Help me out what is a CITES fish vs. not?

All the bettas I've had flare (at some point) at almost all other fish...I thought that was normal uh oh lol. Actually...I have one I bought recently and he is rather inactive. He likes to hide and even in heated water he never seemed to swim around much. However when I got him (CT) his bottom fin tips were very curled and he looked as thought transport was rough on him. He is the most non-aggressive betta I've ever had. He is slowly coming out more and being social to his neighbors as his health improves...any suggestions?? He is a stunning array of metallic looking copper/green/purple. I'll try to get a good picture.

I bought one three years in a row now. They do excellent but I've never been able to replant one...didn't try hard enough I guess with soil type.

I am looking for one or two of these guys....hmm will you be selling any (Edmonton) when they are grown enough? Do you know how long it would be until they were ready? If you're planning to sell.

It doesn't say anything about livestock.... does anyone know????

I'm not looking to breed them I was just wondering because I read somewhere some do and some don't breed in captivity. (but I don't know if that's true so just wondering) Thank you though!

They all stay under 4 inches...??? Do either of you have a favorite breed? **Edit: apparently most of them look the same? ahh doesn't matter I think I shall see if anyone has one or two they're parting with. So far sounds like a good choice. Any suggestions as to breeders on here? Edmonton

I THINK I would like a BN pleco but am wondering if any meet these conditions: -stays small (20 gallon tank) -doesn't eat plants -appearance doesn't matter -fry safe?? -will breed (not important/wanted but would be nice to know) Would a pair be one too many for a 20 gallon tank? Do they care if there is just one of them? As the title states I know nothing so help me out here to choose one! Other option - more ottos 2 now I was given are doing great (nice and fat) but they're always hiding and don't seem to be doing a very good job of algae that is not around their hang out -any other suggestions that meet the above requirements? preferably not snails

I had something like this in my baby betta tank. They have almost ate them all now though. No harm done to the fish.Very tiny I didn't think they were moving until i saw a couple zizgzag super fast.

Shouldn't removal decrease the amount of parasite while you wait to get treatment started? Less worms the better. Like any sick fish you don't want it spreading more and more into your tank?? I don't think it has to be true that by the time one fish has them your whole tank is infected. It could be a new fish added or a small number of eggs/one worm began it all.. I'm trying to be optimistic lol Totally agree on the secondary hurdle. Keep a close eye on them. I hope I never get this in a tank it seems like a huge pain in the ..

That sounds exactly like callamanus worms....unfortunately it is very inconvenient to get the (only working) medicine on time. Your best bet would be trying to get some from someone on here probably. As per my suggestions: I would highly suggest removing the infected fish if you can...it is really not worth loosing your whole tank to and that tends to happen... Sorry to sound discouraging. I had a fish with this problem in its own tank and read a lot of reviews and information and levamiscole (spelling ahh) was the only compound that worked for anyone. I think it was too late for him though he didnt survive treatment. There is a jungle tab food product with levamiscole in (the only one i could find in any petstore anywhere) however none of my fish would eat the pellets not even when I tried enticing them with things like garlic etc. (NONE of my fish... not even other tanks, healthy fish etc.) If you caught it early I would still remove the fish. Get some of the compound and treat your tank as per instructions, but I wouldn't recommend leaving the fish in the tank at all even if that means ...saying bye-bye. You can decide if its worth it, but it is a nasty parasite to deal with and will not disappear if not treated and eventually lead to death of the infected and its tank mates. I sound like the grim reaper AHH. If you decide to leave the fish in---> get the compound treat as quickly as possible and I hope everything turns out. People have had some great results. It's hard to change the water without scooping them. I will put on the saran wrap tonight. Thanks! I think I will have to be getting rid of them early before I move if lots make it. My problems have always been after all the eggs hatch and they are on their own. (free swimming). This is the first time I haven't used bare bottom it was half on accident but actually I can't believe they picked all the eggs up (team effort I guess) but now.. There are way way too many hatchlings now so he is staying very busy...it is okay if i loose some. The water level i haven't had trouble yet, all vertical swimming babies are swimming right up to the top again (although i dunno how many times they can do that). It looks deeper than it is I think. It's only a 5 gallon and from what I read it was suggested water level be at half a ten gallon. (thoughts?) I was thinking of making a shelf so I can keep the amount of water for stability. Previous spawns have never made it farther than a few weeks because of water stability and food supply problems. I'm putting more effort into it this time and hope to raise them to maturity however I am moving at the end of April so that will probably be a bit of a problem. Also I have live food this time (thank you jason!). I'm pretty excited it has been some time LOL

Betta spawning process in SHORT for those who don't know... 1. Male & female kept separate..until male builds nice, big bubble nest 2. female is released and eventually approaches nest to mate 3. they embrace (lots) and float/sink..female comes out of the embrace (temporary paralysis) -->drops eggs 4. male (&female depending) collect eggs and put in nest 5. no more embracing.. (removal of female) 5. male will tend to nest replacing any dropped eggs until avg day 3 when the babies are free swimming upon which time he too is removed Here is a video of my new white crowntail male and his girlfriend having a go. Yeah...I taped it..it is interesting to those who have never seen. Sorry for the bad video job! What size of bag of stratum did you buy? I was wondering what size I would need for 5.5 gallon...2" layer? What do you think?
