salt! it seems to work with most things and helps avoid infection. you could always try a salt bath. other then that melafix has always work on fugus for me...

welcome welcome red deer doesnt have much in the way of fish stores but the ppl here always have lots of fish for sale PLUS harold makes trips up to edm monthly (i think) and he stops here everyonce a while. Amy

Well Kyle just saw the nest. they dug a shallow pit in the middle of the vals planted in sand. Justice and one of the wild caughts (Harold or Kumar) are gaurding the nest but dont seem very aggressive. a bonus. we have had these fish together for almost 2 years now. im surprised it hasnt happened before. They had 3 days of no light being on and i think that is what triggered the spawning. it would have been so cool if we had caught them in the act :shifty: heh heh heh The Nest: some other shots: once the video is uploaded ill post it VIDEO!!!! taking orders for baby piranhas now!!! he seems to be doing better. swimming higher in the tank but still on his side. he will be moved to a larger tank soon. i think i may be keeping him just because i dont think i will be able to find him a home. kyle thinks he deserves a huge home just because he has pulled through when noone thought he would. he is a trooper!!!! Amy

i have had one in a rimless lidless tank for over a year and he has never jumped. perhaps they didnt like your water. mine will crawl out of nets when i have moved them... Amy

i like the look of the stratum but i would probably cap it with a smaller grain of substrate. knowing my planting skills they would all float right up with the stratum. heh heh. it built and now i gotta get some acrylic tubes built for it. i think ill go with a spray bar. i love shrimp proof intakes . Amy

im also biased. Eheim is the best! i have a cube already. i have a glass guy who cuts my tanks for me and then kyle builds them for me LOL i think i want different substrate in this tank tho.. even the black flourite is so awesome. lol. i need more wood i think for this tank. all i havve is rocks in my 15 gallon. i would like a row of 3 cubes and have different shrimps in all of them. we will see what sants brings me for christmas.

Thank you Ron. That means a lot to me. if this clout treatment doesnt work i am seriously considering euthenizing him. i have an exotic pet vet in red deer and i am going to talk to him later this week and see if he is willing to put this fish down. i feel so bad for the oscar. he has been fighting so hard. I am 99% sure that there is permanent damage to his internal organs at this point not to mention that he is barely able to eat. this is one of the hardest decisions to make but his quality of life will probably never improve. :cry: like i said before he deserves all the effort i have put in but its cruel to keep him alive in this state. i just wish i had got him a couple weeks earlier. i think it would have made a difference. If only i was a fish whisperer... thanks everyone for all your support. i will update you all when i talk to dr. higgins Amy

not really the point. the fish was suffering in a bad environment and i will do everything in my power to help him. he deserves that. im just sad that i couldnt help him sooner. Amy

these are all meds that have been donated or i have bought with funds from the sale of other fish we have rescued. but if i was just doing it out of pocket.. yes it would have been about 200$ Amy

i dosed him with manaplex just to cover my bases. 3 day treatment then i did a w/c let him rest a couple days and i put clout in this morning. he has lots of fight still so i hope he make it through the clout treatment. ill do a w/c tomorrow evening. throw the carbon in and see if it helped. Amy

he is stillhaving problems staying upright. i think there has to be some permanent damage to his swim bladder. im dosing him with manaplex basically to cover everything. i hope to see improvement within 2 weeks. if he has permanent damage and will never get better i will have to look at other options. it would be seriously hard to find a forever home for an oscar that has to be alone and in a stark bare bottom tank. he used to be a heallthy fish who ruled his tank. i wont give up on him because he is not giving up either. he is a strong fish. if he pulls through it would be a miracle. does anyone think that clout could help? it the only medicine i havent tried. im always scared to use it. opinions anyone? Amy
