The Finnex will cover fine - I had one of the first-gen planted lights grow anything on a 90gal which is 24" deep.

I'm a fan of the Finnex price, but I've found that their power supply only lasts a few years.  An LED flood would be cheap, too... just a bit ugly and mounting could be a challenge. I've never used Current USA brands.

For the most part Fish & Wildlife frown on people keeping native species in captivity, so there probably isn't a whole lot of anecdotal husbandry info out there.

I replied to you FB thread while on my phone. Now that I'm on the computer with a bigger monitor, I'm quite sure it's an assassin.  How hard is the shell?  If it's quite hard, that'll be the tell I'm looking for.

I've never successfully spawned them, but have had varied succes with other rare plecos. Feed them well and let the water get warm, like over 84F. When you can tell males from females (F=fat, M=large odontes) do a big WC w cool water... I did this with phantoms and go some spawning action, but never fry. I suspect RO was needed.

I've made them with actual rock, as well as used eavestroughing - pretty easy, not too messy. From what I've seen on YouTube for styrofoam backgrounds, you'll want to us a heated knife of some sort to avoid making a huge mess

Aquarium Central has a few Peacocks and so does AquaGiant (personally, I'll never buy a fish there).  To be honest, the best sources I know of are out of town.  Check the Sponsor Forum for Fairdeal - his stock is excellent.  I've also bought thousands of dollars of fish from Spencer Jack in Winnipeg - his stock is also excellent and has very reasonable shipping rates.

The Waterfall foam does a pretty good job of holding stuff together, as long as it's not too heavy.  Pick it up at landscape suppliers - it's the same as the expanding foam for window and door frames, except it's low-yield expansion and black.

I've built a few ponds and have learned how to stack rock w/o them falling over - even with digging cichlids. Have a stroll through my threads (not all of my aquascapes are in the journal forum) - I don't glue rocks together in any of them. I only used the foam in the link above because I knew I didn't have enough space to stack them properly. If you're looking to protect your bottom panel, a piece of eggcrate will do.

Looks like what is often called a Dorado in the aquarium trade. Somewhat popular with Monster tank owners.

A full body pic and close up of side profile of head/face will help. From what I can see, it looks like something from the minnow or dace family, but I'm guessing it's not NA native.

I've seen some amazing backgrounds made from Styrofoam - the hard blue or pink seem to be the easiest to work with, but I've seen many done with the white bead-type.  Check out YouTube for some great DIY projects.

I changed up the occupants a bit, too. Got rid of the Ocellatus and Compresiceps and added Cyathopharynx faoi. There are about 80 fish in the tank right now!

Moved the tank today and did a bit of a rescape.

If she's laying eggs on a substrate (rock, or pit in sand) then she's NOT a Rift Lake African Cichlid, as they are predominantly mouth brooders. She looks like a mix of Central American cichlids

I'm planning on bringing some Tanganyika cichlids and maybe some plants
