  1. WHAT NOW ANDY? I BEAT YOU TO THE CHASE. GO HOME NOOB! U = L00Z
  2. Dont' fill it in through the top. Submerse the hydrometer slowly and allow the unit to fill from the hole in the bottom. That way, you won't get air bubbles trapped on the needle.
  3. why you gotta be like that Tim? why?
  4. The TIM has spoken. All ye who doubt shalt be cast into oblivion.
  5. lepidiolamprologus elongatus tanganyikan
  6. Those are toadstool leathers (Sarcophyton spp.).
  7. The caption said it was a full grown female. The site was really ghetto though. To be honest, this picture really deflates my interest in these fish, not to say that it was very high in the first place. I really do think full grown dempseys are a bit more appealing.
  8. http://tropicalfishgallery.com/potm/winner...5_02_04Jack.jpg Whoo hoo!
  9. Too late. I dumped the whole thing in ages ago. It was kept airtight if that counts for anything.
  10. Mine are still getting massive amounts of that stuff in their diets with the NLS. Normal coloration still present.
  11. I'd never pay for one. For those prices, I could hook up an overflow downdraft AND a medium sized Euroreef AND something else worth under $100. Hahha
  12. Here's my schedule on all tanks regardless of size or contents. Once evern two weeks: 40-50% water change via vacuum. Retain some of the water in a bucket. Rinse out all media in the aforementioned bucket. Change media as necessary. Replace media into the filter. Scub tank with a pad or razorblade where necessary. Add conditioner to the tank. Top off with water that is the same temp or slightly warmer than the tank water. Wipe outside surfaces of the tank, using a razorblade where necessary. No debating about nitrates and bioloads, just do it. You will be left with water that is sparkling and a stable biofilter. I love fat chicks. Love them hard. Most of you do too.
  13. Grunge is probably nice, but I wouldn't count on being able to get it here in Canada. I'll try to go into more details about the glued aragonite when I get home (at a friend's house right now), but basically, it entails gluing a thin layer of sand to a sheet of plexiglass using clear PVC cement. This sheet would then be placed on the bottom of the tank and everything would go on top.
  14. You could actually get the same aesthetic results simply by coating a piece of plexiglass with a thin amount of aragonite; clear pvc glue is ideal for this. All this with the benefit of BB.
  15. The fall of the DSB wasn't simply the end of a trend. It was a hard proven fact that DSB's are not a viable long term solution. This is especially true in Canada where we don't even have access to the one of the basic ingredients of a DSB, real live sand.
  16. What's your projected success timeframe?
  17. Actually, the UK is light years behind us...
  18. You should do yourself a favor now and remove all the media from your power filter. What kind of powerheads are you using? How big is the tank? If this is your first SW tank, it might also be prudent that you ditch your sand and opt for bare bottom. 2093482383094x easier to keep clean during your initial six months. You can always add a thin layer of substrate after this critical period.
  19. What are you trying to do? Cycle a SW tank? SW shouldn't even use a filter.
  20. There's one at the store that is THAT red...
  21. You cannot edit more red onto a picture. You can only make red 'redder'.
