  1. Hmm I see, I thought it might make for a decent last resort as I believe the thermal breakdown point for most aquarium grade silicones is 200 degrees or so. Does there resistance to thermal break down increase with time?
  2. I work with silicone everyday in large quantities at work and i dont reccomend that with a tank IMO. I took apart my 140 because of the same issue and had the same problems with tightly installled glass panes.. I just had to keep working it until i could hold onto the top of the pane and wiggle it back and forth until the silicone broke hold where i couldnt get my blade into at the bottom half.. good luck Not trying to say that i`m 100% right on this but just curious as to what the negative effects would be?
  3. Just a thought, never actually done it, but could you use a heat gun to give the silicone a little more elasticity so that you could make use of the knife the whole way or maybe it would soften the silicone enough to almost peel apart? just popped into my head as I took a decal off my truck with the heat gun the other day? Might be worth a try? Good luck either way.
  4. Pretty diverse! I bet it looks awesome though!
  5. Great looking pair, hope you enjoy them, breeding Festaes is an exciting experience! The female is especially beautiful, nice work!
  6. Very nice! Especially like the background in the first picture. Did you create it yourself?
  7. I have had pretty good luck with using Tinfoil barbs as dithers. And I also once had a full grown male GT in a standard 90, I eventually added a larger juvenile demspsey to the mix, I put a large piece of drift in the middle to attempt to segregate them a little bit. I also kept the tank stocked with home grown feeder minnows for the first week so that the GT noticed the JD was there but was ultimately distracted by the feeders. It worked well and within 2 weeks they were living harmoniously. Hope this helps! GT`s are great fish to keep, have any pictures of him?
  8. looks beautiful, love the low lighting natural look! What all occupies the tank?
  9. Hello all, I have been in Alberta for 5 years now but have not gotten around to joining a forum until now. I am originally from Winnipeg and while I lived there I was extremely active on the Winnipeg Fish Forums. I love all aspects of the hobby, but I am mostly interested in building large custom all glass tanks and custom sump filtration systems. I mostly keep SA and CA cichlids but have kept a lot of others. As of right now I don`t have anything worth bragging about as I have recently moved into a new home, so in the mean time I am going to live vicariously through you all! That being said, I am in the market for a 120g+ aquarium if the price is right so let me know if you have anything! I`m looking forward to browsing the forum some more and getting to know you all! Thanks, Blake
