The Hardware store in Hinton on the main drag used to carry light difusers. As well I am sure you can get silica sand in Hinton. Hinton has everything Edmonton has.

I currently have 3 female and 1 male guppy with my cherry red shrimp. There has never been an issue with the guppies eating shrimp fry. Would other livebearers pose a hazard to my shrimp fry or adult shrimp. I am sure sailfin mollies would be a bother, but perhaps smaller livebearers. I have never kept shrimp with fish until recently.

So i recently bought an assassin snail in hopes of reducing my pond snails in a 20 gallon shrimp/plant tank. Well the darned snail just does laps around the front of the tank, avoiding the pond snails altogether. Is this normal? Do they only assassinate at night when I am tucked in bed not watching him?

Last night I bought some large adult cherry red shrimp to increase the gene pool in my 20 gallon shrimp tank. Almost immediatley after introducing these new guys, 2 of the larger males both made a beeline for a couple of the white cloud minnows hanging at the top of the tank. Each shrimp latched onto a minnow and wouldnt let go. The minnows buzzed around for a good 2-3 minutes each until they broke loose. Has anyone else had this happen? I find it more humorous than worrying, but I would like to know if it is common.

I recently bought CRS from a member of this forum and they have bred. I added about 1/4 teasppon of aquarium salt to their 20 gallon tank about 6 months ago. So with all the water changes since, and the fact we moved and tossed out 50% of that tanks water, I would say that salt is not needed.

We just got our first power bill since moving into Okotoks. Running a 55 gallon community, 2 33 gallon cichlid tanks and a 20 gallon shrimp tank. Have all the standard fluval 303 can filters on each of the 3 bigger tanks an a HoB on the shrimp tank plus the usual pumps and heaters. Bill was only $80. I was expecting it to be ginormous considering the lighting in the shrimp tank is bright enough to tan with.

This sounds excellent after doing the research. Where in the Calgary area would I purchase them?

Will very young clown or yoyo loaches remove my snail problem without bringing harm to my cherry red shrimp? I have heard from some folks that say it shouldnt be a problem, but I am still on the fence about trying it.

Can you post some pics and your specific concerns? I am a plumber so I may be able to point out/solve some possible mechanical issues but that'll cost $100 an hour. Just kidding, lol.

Thats the reason I left Edmonton. Nothing but criminals up there. The EPS are almost as corrupt as RCMP and that's saying alot.

I have a common pleco and a striped rafael talking catfish in with my Mbunas in a 55g tank. Pleco and the Rafael tend to actually push the Mbunas around and work as a team when the Mbunas get a bit aggressive.

Thank you. The tank I plan to put any possible future shrimp with is 25 gallons, contains 10 white clouds, 2 cory cats and 11 neon tetras. It is full of live plants for the shrimp to hide amongst.

Hey folks. As my username implies, I am from Okotoks. I have been raising and breeding all sorts of fish for nearly three decades now. I keep Electric yellow and electric blue cichlids in a 55 gallon tank and I have a 30 gallon tank with white coulds, neon tetras, and cory cats at the moment.

Most ferts are fine, but be sure to read the label and ensure that the copper levels in the fert are not too high. Copper in high doses will kill your shrimp.

Has anyone here had any issues with Stripe Rafael catfish harming or eating shrimp? I have a 4 inch long Rafael in my 50 gallon tank with eltric yellows, but I would like to get him into my 33 gallon, but I dont want him in there if he will eat my shrimp.

I have heard of the frogs attacking and eating the shrimp in a lot of tanks.
