  1. I was wondering if anybody knows this or has read it somewhere. How much Potassium in Mono Potassium Phosphate? Since on Chuck's Planted Aquarium Calculator it shows how much Potassium is in KNO3. Also do you even dose potassium? I've read that too much potassium can cause calcium intake problems. So I've never dosed... Thanks all for your help.
  2. I will be selling a H.O.T Magnum very soon, like new with box and everything. I can let yah know if you want Jason.
  3. Awesome, for some reason I had it in my head that they were bigger for what size the 5lbs are. Yah I think I'll go with a 15 or 20lbs when I go pressurized, maybe a 5 lbs for backup or when I have to get it changed. Thanks for the info Milan.
  4. Thats a big Cylinder isnt it? When I go pressurized I want to keep the cylinder under the tank. Milan, do you know what the dimensions are for the CO2 cylinder by chance?
  5. I think it’s always best to under dose at first also. If your plants start to show signs of a deficiency then add a bit more. Find the Deficiency's at Chuck's Planted I think it’s the easiest way to 'start'. I'm sure I’ll be corrected or something, but that’s how I started, and when your ready you can start to test the water perimeters. Also just remember to do your water changes! Good luck
  6. Crazy I didn't think that it would break like that. I'm guessing thats becasue there is no give in the Bulkhead connections? So when the glass flex's the bulkheads put stress on it, right? Good thing it happned to you frist, good lesson for us all! :P
  7. Sweeeeet  Hey do you think it'd be possible to include what this is costing you?
  8. Look at hardware stores for Tree Stump removers. I hear Green stump remover is all KNO3. Or I ordered all mine from Homegrown Hydroponics it was cheap and fast.
  9. Well I now know where my nitrates are. Still there! I did a controlled test with a 5 gal pail, added just the right amount of KNO3 to bring it to 15ppm, and then tested it with my red sea test kit.. What’s it read.. ZERO So my test kit is funked, which is the second that I have bought that doesn't work. This is getting annoying, :grr: is there a trustworthy test kit out there? Or am I going to have to fork out the dough and get a LaMotte or Hatch test kit? What is a guy to do????? Milan - Thanks, yes I read those before, APC is a great plant site. But I am glad I found this site, better to relate to ones in our own community.
  10. K Just checked my Nitrates and Phosphates... Nitrate 0 AGAIN! dosed. Phosphate 0.2 Plants peraling a little, looks good so far. Thanks again
  11. Awesome, thanks for the info everyone. I increased my Nitrates to 15ppm, I am going to check them again tonight, see how much they've gone down. I've had the eco complete for awhile now, and it didn't mess with the KH before. Is this something that can happen after awhile? Milan, thanks I'll cut out my MgSO4. I dont' live in Edmonton anymore Wainwright is were I call home now. I forget what the water parameters are, I'll check them and post them sometime. Ummmm maybe I should try out the EI dosing. My tank is small so 50% WC aren't a prob, I do close to that anyway.
  12. Yes I was going to dose my Nitrate tonight, got it to 15 ppm I don't think that KH is to high, its only a little above where I usally am at. I am dosing the PMDD method Here is my tank perimeters 33US gallons Two DIY Yeast 2L CO2 Bottles running Hagen Ladder 96 Watt Coralife Light Strip + 2 25 Watt fluorescent tubes under a Aquamirror Eco-Complete mixed with Plain Gravel Half/half 200 Watt submersible Tronic heater Temperature 27.1 Celsius (81 Fahrenheit) Dosing KNO3, KH2PO4, MgSO4+7H2O, and trace.
  13. I did some tests today becasue my plants aren't peraling anymore. Seems for the past while they haven't at all, which they always do, esspesaly after a water change. So I tested my water today, here is the results: Red Sea test kits Nitrate - 0ppm (I know I cant seem to dose enough) Phosphate - 0.5ppm Hagen Nitrate - 0ppm Aquarium Pharmaceuticals PH - 6.6 Tetra Test PH - 7.0 KH - 14dh GH - 18dh So heres the thing with either take on my PH my CO2 levels would be outrageous (PH)7 + 14DH = 42ppm CO2 OR (PH)6.6 + 14DH = 105ppm Whats wrong with that? THink my test kits out of wack? Oh I almost forgot I have two 2 liter bottles running DIY CO2 on a hagen ladder. about a bubble a sec. Thanks all for your time, + sorry for the subject being disaggranged. Working way to much!
  14. Do you think that maybe your discus are to crowded? They need more space then most fish or else they will be stunted or will be stressed. Also I was just reading "Don't use carbon in the filter (this can lead to disease in discus)" http://www.simplydiscus.com/library/discus...4beginner.shtml dont know if this helps at all, since I don't know to much about Discus quite yet.
  15. I also looked for the cheapest method for adding nutrients to my aquarium. Mixing the nutrients is pretty easy, and I had no problems with it. You can use a very easy calculator found here: http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_dosage_calc.htm I was a little scared when I started to dose my aquarium, hoping not to destroy it all! But it’s really pretty easy! Hope that this helps a little. Riel
  16. Pretty sweet nevo! Seems like awhile since you posted how things were with this project. I think I seen some pictures. I have to say, I'm very much so envious! Good WORK! Riel
  17. I was thinking also, for 200gpd. If this is just for your aquariums, do you really need 200gallons for each and every day? Couldn't you just get something that would give you 20GPD, that'd give you 140gallons a week... Or is that how it works? Just a question
  18. If your looking for major plant growth you really need to increase your lighting levels. For a 50 gal tank you have moderate light levels at best. For instance I have a 33gal tank with the corallife 96watt CF strip, I also have 2 25 Watt fluorescent tubes under a Aquamirror reflector. So I am with Milan, your CO2 is probally fine, if anything right now to much CO2. You will have to start dosing nutrients also, KNO3, KH2PO4, MgSO4+7H2O, and trace elements. If your intrested in getting some CHEAP order some from http://www.hydroponics.com/ P.S. Remember if you think a test is way out of wack... Then it proablly is, get a second opinion. :P Hope we can help you through the rough time!

    Hello

Hello all, my buddy told me about this site. I'm into my planted tanks, trying to go to breeding. I'm from a hole called Wainwright, it sucks. I have to travel to Edmonton to get any decent fish stores. Anyhow looking forward to getting to know you all, and learning from your genius minds!
