  1. I would recomend looking at mist king. I bought some parts from them and built a system using a 5 gal pail and keep it filled up with RO water. I drilled the sides of the pail for tubing and then one smaller one so that I would not have pressure issues. Have it on my crested gecko tank and have been using it for about a year and love it!
  2. In my tank currently I have a long bubble wall but the rays keep digging it out of the sand and eventually knock it so it floats to the top. Any recommendations adding air to the tank? Or ways to secure the bubble wall?

There was a fair bit of water but thankfully I pulled a ton of towels from the closet and got it soaked up. It was a AquaClear 110 hanging on back. I ordered some new cansiter filters last week so I hope the will be in soon to help take the load.

I figure that a bunch of you may enjoy my minor heart failure from this morning. I woke up early to make a nice breakfast before work and had just gotten out of the shower and walked to the living room where I heard running water. I went back and checked to make sure everything was off and it was. Went back to the living room and the water noise was coming from my large tankā€¦ I looked behind the tank and there was water splashing against the wall and all over the place, including the electrical socket behind the tank. I immediately powered everything down in the area and the water splashing came to a slow stop. Thankfully it was only a crack in my one filter and not a crack in my tank. I am guessing that this could be because I do not know the age of the filter? Has anyone else experienced this? Anything I should make sure I do? I run dual filters on the tank, pulled off the bad filter and put on 2 old filters to help handle the load. I put the media across the other filters to try and keep it active.
  5. Thanks for all the responses, Has anyone noticed that their tanks temperature fluctuates more when they are using lighting? I have noticed that my temperature rises a few degrees when the lights are on and then drops when the lights are off. Is this pretty normal? Tyler
  6. Thanks for the quick reply. Had my timer on 12 on 12 off but may switch to the 14 hour.
  7. I am still really new to the hobby and thought I would get some opinions on lighting for a bottom dwellers tank. Is it best to have consistent night and day lighting for a tank? Or is it better to have it on a timer to simulate night and day?
  8. I was reading through this post the other night and thought that I would buy some and give it a try. I plunked a few of them around the tank and the rays went right for them. The only problem is that they did not eat them... They moved them to the one corner of the tank but did not eat them. Any recommendations for convincing them to eat them? Tyler

    Hello

Hello Everyone! I am brand new to the site and was introduced to it by a member who I bought another one of my rays off of. I currently have a 100 Gal aquarium going with 3 small rays and going to be building a custom tank in the next few months. From Calgary originally moved to Edmonton for a job promotion. I have been in love with rays for years and spent over a year doing all my pre reading before setting up my first fish tank with rays. Tyler
  10. I am not sure about other keepers but I find that the most active time for my rays is in the middle of the night. When the lights go out the rays play and can make a fair bit of noise!
  11. I figure I might as well say hello! I am Tyler new to the site and fairly new to keeping rays. I currently have 3 motoro's and love them! Wanted stingrays ever since I first went swimming with them in the Caribbean ocean.
