  1. Hey guys, my bday came early for me ( found an awesome deal on kijiji yesterday, pounced right on it) I picked up the new digs today, 72"x19"x20", 118g, now I just need to pick up the lighting, and come up with a lid ( the guy I bought it from will whip me up one, just need to give him dimensions to accomodate the filtration hoses) now just comes the hard part, this tank is going right where my current one is.. so I was thinking of cleaning out a few rubbermaids, fill those with tank water (and out of the way, I should have enough to save 59 gallons) then move old tank, and set up new one, fill with all the old water, and finish off with new water. My concern is with all my livestock.. do I place them across a few of the rubbermaids, or bag them until the new tank is up, or just add them to the gf's 44 while I get the new one running, and just add all the filters on the 1?
  2. I ordered a new filter off ebay @1 month ago, finally got it in yesterday, its a 'sun-sun' 303b, with a built in 9w UV so pulled it all out, cleaned it off there's 3 trays, each had a cotton filter, and I loaded each tray up with http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Matrix.html seachem's matrix biofilter media, then got it all plumbed up to the tank, and it runs soo quiet, doesnt seem likes its running at all :P, so now I'll be switching my fluval 404 to backup duty and water polisher once the new one is seeded and established
  3. Yeah, they swapped it the next day for one that didn't leak, so now it's all good, will get pics of it soon
  4. I'm curious here, when people do a water change with a hose/python ect, when you go to refill, do you use straight cold water, or do you try and get the temp close to the tank's temp before refilling?
  5. yeah, I'd agree its an L134, after comparing the mouth, ect, which is fine by me, cause then I got it 30$ cheaper than they were asking for them
  6. so a little update, I managed to get ahold of mr pleco the other day, took some better pics and changed my lighting a bit, ditched the old Sun-Glo & Aqua-glo bulbs, put in a new Life-Glo and Flora-Glo bulbs, lined the white reflectors with aluminum foil, and added a blue LED strip along the back edge of the hood for night lighting before- 1 reflector done, LED strip in LED on ( you can see I've changed the right side of the tank a little, will get a daytime pic up soon)
  7. Gold's is still around, I was there last week, they're open on sundays, at least thats what their sign said, they're only closed on thursdays.
  8. here's some night shots of him, the tank beside the one he was in was labelled to have the L134 Peckoltia compta, so if he is, I got him cheaper than they were asking, but he was identified by their resident pleco guy ( Norm at Pisces here in Calgary)
  9. just changed around the layout of the tank, removed the fake deco's, and added slate shelves, more driftwood, and some more live plants also added an LDA001- Gold stripe panaque here he is hiding in one of the wood added 2 apisto panduro's, and 2 apisto eunotus

    Hi

thanks for the welcoming unfortunately, no pics of previous tanks, lost all my old pictures last year, but I do have a pic of my current setup posted, but I can remember how they've gone :P 1st 10g - a few tetra's, a reg pleco, and a weather loach, then I moved up to a 20 and 33, where I started into cichlids - firemouth, convicts, then I added my 44hex which housed a firemouth, severums, and blood parrots, then I eventually purchased my 60 back in 2005, and its been the same kind of setup ( firemouth, blood parrots, small ranger pleco, small clown pleco (L104?) over the years, its been setup and broken down a few times, having moved back and forth from BC several times, and now with my setup, I plan to keep it mild cichlids ( the firemouth, getting into apisto's, and I've grown fond of interesting and unique dwarf pleco's ( by that I mean ones that stay relatively small)
  11. here's a pic of my 60g setup substrate- playsand fluval 404, ebo-jager 250w heater Lighting- Hagen AquaGlo & SunGlo (I believe they are T8 Fluo's), I think its time to change them though, as they are original, from 2005 1 moneywort, 1 amazon sword live plants 5 black phantom tetra's, 3 hasbora tetra, 5 zebra danios, 1 male guppy, 2 female guppys, 2 Apistogramma cacatuoides, 1 Thorichthys meeki (firemouth) 1 L076 orange seam pleco I'm hoping to move soon, then I will get my 44g hex back, and will set that up for the gf's community guys
  12. there are some canadian importers or breeders that sell online here, back in the spring I bought one from this guy in Vancouver http://stores.canadianaquafarm.com/-strse-Bettas/Categories.bok, reasonably priced, and easy to deal with the problem with going through aquabid, is that the sellers in malaysia, ect, usually ship them through a transshipper, which then gets expensive, as they are the middleman, and deal with all the costs of importing, ect, then they ship the fish off to you ( I'm not 100% on all of this, this is just what I had found while looking into it)
