  1. That's it, green powder in an odd little triangular container with a handy dandy spoon! My spoon is too big!
  2. So, this is maybe a stupid question but I figure it's better to ask than blunder along in ignorance. I recently got some Artemia food and it says on the packet it's for feeding brine shrimp which like saline water as I'm sure most of us know. Well, I've got some flower shrimp which are filter feeders and I was told that this food might be a nice supplement to their diet but being skeptical I thought it better to ask here. Can I use this stuff in a fresh water aquarium? Will it provide any benefit for my flower shrimp or my red cherry shrimp? Thanks!
  3. My 2215 has a notation about head height on the label, I believe it says 1.8m, which means it will only push the water that high. Perhaps yours have the same label or Eheim's site should list it somewhere.
  4. Thanks for the quick response, is the filter worth a darn? I do like the looks of the tank but it's fairly scratched (aren't most used acrylics ) and if it won't filter very well maybe I should just sell it and get a 20 long
  5. I recently found a 15 gallon acrylic tank in the garage and let me tell you, it's an odd one. One end of the tank has a black plastic shroud inside and outside and contained inside is a heater and filter. The filter is a square tube in brown plastic with a removable clear/brown media cup on the bottom and there is a peeling sticker that says Fluval Mod 2. Anyone familiar with these? I'm guessing it's pretty old, but is it any good? I couldn't get a decent pic of it the model sticker but I got a couple of the whole schmozzle. Can't up any more pics right now because the global upload limit and I can't remember my photobucket info.
  6. Bumping this back up, Family Pet in Sherwood park is selling drilled 40 gallon breeders from their display racks for $50. They've also got a hydor protein skimmer for $150, from $499 and some other stuff in the clearance rack. Seems like their regular prices are a bit high but the sale prices are juuuust fine Also, some Petsmarts have buckets of Coralife salt for $25.
  7. I can't say that I really agree with you, especially when you compare something like this to some of the methods used by the people who supply our hobby (cyanide fishing??), but I think I understand what you are saying. IMO, fishing with hook and line, aka sportfishing, especially by people who aren't poaching a-holes is fun and usually isn't going to tip a species into the dangerzone, especially something like tiger oscars and jewel ciclids, which are obviously introduced species (http://cichlidworld.net/FLORDIA%20CICHLIDS.htm) and could probably do with some thinning out.
  8. Looks good, I like your tree in the middle. I also like the Galaxy rasbora and Dario Dario combination I'm currently looking for another couple D Dario.

Big als apparently has Eheim filters on sale starting on the 2nd.
  11. Are there usually any marine fish or coral?
  12. I'm not sure if this is a taboo subject, but the ACE website is REALLY out of date... really really out of date. What I'm wondering is about membership, is the information posted on the membership page current (or even remotely so) or should I just try to show up at a meeting if I want to join?
  13. I hate to sound like a newbie, but PJ's in WEM usually has nice fresh buckets of plants every time I've been and if you talk to the older hippy looking guy he is pretty good about bringing things in. Natures corner is good but the last few times I went they had low stock and it looked a tiny bit brown. AC usually has some real choice stuff and is fast becoming my store of choice.
  14. I've worked the boat show but on the tech support/venue end and it is a bear of a show, especially on Sundays, I feel your pain but fortunately this year I'm in a different line of work.
  15. I do have a heat gun but I was under the impression it needed more heat than that. I'm not sure I'm patient enough, but maybe I'll give it a try.
  16. My GPS kept pushing for SW, wouldn't even give the option of SE and when I went there by ol dead reckoning I found that the closest I could get was 17th ave and 49th street which is the back 40 of a truck stop and I got my car all muddy in the process... Perhaps I missed a street or something, but what a royal pita to find, I guess next time I'll give myself more time and not do it on a holiday monday
  17. Alright, I hate baying things from overseas, especially glass, but I might have to cave. There is a guy on plantedtank who offers them made from acrylic that I'll try before I ebay, will definitely post up if I make a deal.
  18. I recently saw some lily pipes and I'd like to have some, does anyone know where to find em? Similar to this but way cheaper would be nice http://www.adgshop.com/Lily_Pipe_p/102-412.htm
  19. Where the heck is Gold's? I tried finding it today, based on the information in this thread: http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=6071 The address does not exist and I didn't have a chance to call them and confirm it, between no bluetooth and being in a bit of a hurry.
  20. So I came home tonight to find one of my new galaxy rasboras hovering at the top of the tank with big ugly white stripes on his right side. Bought from a Big LFS here in Edmonton and in the tank for only a couple days, the new galaxies have been hiding and this is the first really good look I get of them Went to the LFS in question and found their galaxies in quarantine with ich. Fortunately everyone else seems fine so I've dosed with chems and raised the temperature so fingers crossed that everyone is alright.
  21. So, after finally getting some more galaxy rasboras I now think I've got eggs too, hoardes of eggs. There are clumps of tiny white eggs plastered all over the glass. On the sides and in the corners, oh and some on the driftwood too, just for fun. The only other residents are some white clouds, which I suppose could be the culprits but I just put them in last night and I read they are egg scatterers. I'll try to get a pic posted but I'm not having much luck getting my phone to send it. Wish me luck!
  22. That's Kelly from Ectothermic Reptiles, he's an ERAS person and always been fair to deal with when I've done business with him. I'm tempted to try out the community stuff but I've already got a shelf full of food.
  23. About half of my cherries are from aquarium central and half from pjs pets west Edmonton mall. My next additions will be from aquarium central
