  1. I'd wait for it to warm up as Rena's is in mississauga ontario
  2. Hi, welcome to Corydoras Anonymous, I've been a member for around 5 years. Not to worry there are many support groups, ie: this forum, planet catfish and corydoras world to help keep the compulsion to blindly purchase every cute, quirky, and charming catfish you find.
  3. Lol unfortunately my sitter aka my mother will not babysit if my going out involves either of my two hobbies, as reading and fishkeeping are aan expensive waste of time that the time and money involved better spent elsewhere. Que eye roll, and asking my teenager to watch a 7yo and a 6 month old is a bit much for her to handle lol
  4. In my experience I have a standard 75G tank with no plastic trim and going strong for 5 years now, but it does have a metal brace across top.
  5. Are very small children allowed say a 6 month old?
  6. Are we talking old school alt rock? Myself I have several playlists for relaxing to old school foo fighters, audioslave, oasis, googoo dolls, smashing pumpkins. Now more modern alt fits my treadmill time with paramore, evanescence, cold play and fall out boy. Travel time is straight Latin, shakira being my all time fave lol. Oh and the fish like NKOTB as well
  7. Anyone know if this is true for killifish? I have 2 that originally thought were male due to colouring but they are filling with eggs. Colouring is not as intense as the males but Definately not as bland as the females.
  8. So Lion King on in the background to entertain the little one as she hates it when mommy works on tanks. I was switching over the almost 5 week green laser try to my 10G grow out tank that had recently housed 18-20 BN juvies (gawd what a mess, never raising Pleco fry again), good thing too for the switch. As Elton John crooned for Simba and Nala to get busy it spurred my Sterbais and Duplicareus to get it on lol. Granted a few other factors might have helped, just added 3 dup juvies to my group 3F and 1M from the auction and the sterbai did get an addition of Italian Val's added to the tank which made the Bolivians happier too as they colored up with the removal of the GBR and rearrangement of the tank. Pulled 20 eggs from dup tank (corners and above waterline, exhausted my poor lone male lol) and just waiting to see how many Sterbai as 2 of my big girls (pretty much same size as female full grown bolivian) are laying. My Pandas are also chasing around the tank which is cute as I have a couple ambitious habrosus males chasing them. All in all highly recommend Disney Elton John music for setting the mood, might try some Disney sting tunes next time. Apologies for pics, one of these days I'll buy a proper camera.
  9. So who snagged those first 2 bags of duplicareous corys? I missed putting a face to Jayba when he got the napoensis, and a huge thank you to the Regina Cory Couple whose names escape my sleep deprived brain for the pipettes. Oh and I may not have won many Cory battles but I lost 2lbs that day lol so still a win!
  10. Lol, well going to email as soon as I can hit a comp. They did say they had a 2 meter one which would cover the span I need, but require min 10 order even with that still better deal and eliminate bulb replacement which is a definate plus
  11. Wow, excellent price and love how less bulky they are. With the sun blasters I was coming up around 300 (+shipping) to outfit both racks but looking at these even if the 2m are double the price of the 1m I'm hitting 150-200 range with free shipping. OK thanks jumpsmasher, light problem solved. Now to continue for air blower, I have to have 2 for around 100G each, as I can't run air hose on the roof or across the walls or floor. Kids, cats and landlord do not approve.
  12. So building my own fish racks as tired of all the little stands and powerbars on each outlet in my fish room. But finding a decent air pump to run 8 sponge filters (roughly 85-100G) quietly is a bit daunting. Add in finding a decent lighting system equates to much banging of head lol. So here is what its boiling down to. Each rack will have 4-10G, 1-15G, 1-30G. Deepest tank is the 30G with depth of . All the canopies are being replaced with glass to allow for different light set up. Now the lights don't have to be special as I only keep low tech plants that grow very well with T-8's, so basically just need lights to grow my plants (crypts, swords, java moss) and don't heat up to much, don't cost too much and either connect together or inexpensive enough to buy as a single unit to span 6' so there is only one plug (trying to eliminate multiple power bars). I had read good things on sun blasters provided they have a light deflector (easily enough crafted from some eavestrough)? Thoughts? ideas?
  13. Those least Killis are fairly shrimp safe, Matt they grew up with red cherry shrimp and mouths are too small for any neocaridinas shrimplets btw. I picked up mainly plants as didn't have any cory species I really wanted. Plus need all the Anubias I get get my hands on for the hubby's tank build lol
  14. Great deals, great times and great fun Sunday Oct 26 High Park Community Hall 11032-154 St 9:00 - Auction items drop off 10:00 - viewing 11:00 - auction begins until everything is sold Concession on site Raffles and door prizes
  15. Lol I lucked out and the hubby is home so childless I shall go. Which works as I'm hoping to burn some flubber off running lol. First kid free outing in over 6 months, so I may be excitable. Plus allowing fair game for others as I'm running short on tank space with the 200 odd fry atm. Basically looking to snag some duplicareous and maybe one or two others. And stuff to redo my fish room.
  16. Carevto spill as I've seen some Catcon lists and fair drooling to see what you brought back.
  17. Thinking of bringing in -sterbai cory -black schultzei cory -reg BN plecos -cherry shrimp -least killifish -apistogramma pebas -melanotaenia maccullochi (skull creek)
  18. I keep least killifish (Heterandria Formosa) with my cherry shrimp without issue. I've heard of some having Pencil fish and dwarf crayfish without problems.
  19. Third female decided to have fun today, laid all over. The first generally lay on the front glass or the one side, this one seems to prefer plants, glass and the fry hang on breeder intake tube and the second breeder box that's flipped to sit in tank for eggs. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to train your fish to lay in one spot ??? So grand total is about 130 eggs. Thinking I'm going to let nature take its course if they lay again in 3 weeks.
  20. Thanks Jayba, although I believe the 15 I have was originally yours lol I believe you had given them to my sister for free. Approximately 24" x 12" x 12" and drilled for a sump. I just snagged them off her.
  21. Thinking about it that probablybis the least stressful for the fish. I'll see if I can find another female of each at least. Thanks again.
  22. And yup another joined in and have a total of 80 eggs collected, if this batch goes as well as the first batch I'm going to run out of room to house fry and all I have left is a 15 long.
  23. Might have to see for first spawn on GBR's, the Bolivians have spawned before with corys in the tank and defended well until free swimming than they ate them.I'll let the GBR's have a turn to see what they do. If neither do well, I'll be doing the artificial hatch route. I'm going to be dropping the corys number down to 10. I have plastic mesh I can use for dividers if necessary. Really like to add another pair of Bolivians as they seem to spawn better with more conspecifics. Thanks!
