  1. I ones I saw had more black/marbling with the blue. I love those angels Jayba and Angel Al they are amazing. I'm wishing my daughter had a bigger tank (50G 5 sided) she's already got 4 in it and don't think there's room for another pair
  2. Was doing a W/C and have a tiny fry come say hi and disappeared, hour later still can't find him in my 140G. ARGH!!

  3. These ones are black and a very deep blue (almost a royal blue) coloring. Unbelievably beautiful. Philippine Blues are gorgeous too.
  4. It's official I've fallen in love. I was at A.C. the other day and got a chance to see their new Blue Marbled Angelfish. They are amazing. Has anyone else had these? Next time I'm in I'll snap some photos. Very drool worthy.
  5. LOL Awesome. This hobby is expensive to be sure. I'm working on some other quick and cheap stuff too. Working on building my own breeder tanks fro under $3.00. hoping this experiment works too.
  6. Same no reply, ad still up. Hope they do the right thing.
  7. Ever find yourself doing a W/C and find out too late that your out of filter media. No time to go to the store or the stores are closed. I have a toddler that likes to get into stuff and doing a W/C late at night found my media had been ruined by nailpolish. I had thought to just rinse the media and reuse but I had added new fish that day and didn't want to chance it. Pondering this I glanced at my big tanks filter, it was a pouch type that you add carbon to and clip top. I had an idea. Rummaging around I grabbed up new 2 pieces of scour pads (those green scratchy scouring plastic pads you buy for scrubbing dishes). Placed them in a pan and poured boiling water through them to sterilize them and dried them flat with my hairdryer. Pulling out the old sewing machine I sewed them together to form a pouch with heavy gauge white cotton thread. Half a cup of active carbon to fill and sewed the top close. Rinse again quickly under running water for dust and BAM emergency media. >> The fish were fine and happy until I was able to get into town to buy new media a week later (not medically able to drive and where we lived didn't have a taxi service) I use this home made media on the Goldfish and use it in my community tanks to no ill effects for the last 2 years. Thoughts???
  8. Just watched a tug of war happen between one of my variatus fish and my Amano shrimp over a pea. Hilarious.

  9. Wish other non hobbyists would figure out how to do this, so many times on kijiji the posted Gallons don't match the measurements. I found a gallon formula thats been acurate for me and easy if you have a pocket calculator (or borrow from the store/person) to double check everything. > Has bought mislabelled tanks in the past from stores/perople. :: H x L x W x 0.00433 = Gallons. Although I love the idea of telling me which accessories and etc needed.
  10. Looking amazing can't wait to see your "carpet"
  11. Goodmdither fish would be Giant Danios or even some of the larger tetras like Beunos Aires or Blood fin Tetras possibly full grown Silver Dollars. I have heard of people putting Bucktooth tetras in but I think there would be casulities on both sides then.
  12. Amen to that. Kudos to you Jayba. I wish I had room for a predator tank to rescue these poor things Email Sent: May I suggest you contact these fish rescue people here on Kijiji to come get these poor things. Thank you. Shocked!!!!
  13. That's horrible! there is no excuse for that lack of hygene in a tank even if you just take water out rather than vaccum and etc. Takes bare minutes. If you have time for a coffee you have time for fish
  14. I don't know I have several cross bred endler to reg/fan. guppies and I like their look better. I mean yes the pure should be preserved but they're so washed out looking compared to the crossbred. but i also could be biased.

    Hello

Hello I live in Sherwood Park soon to move. I've had fish for over 8 years and until this year never had a sick fish or any disease. My streak had to break sometime and it did with a huge kick in the teeth. :cuss: . I admire regular cichlids from afar, the snakey loaches with a shudder (ever clean someones tank for them and accidently grab something (snakey looking loach) you didn't know was in there *shivers*). Have and Had Mollies, tetras, barbs, wags/swordtails, bettas, platties, goldfish, dwarf rainbows, catfish, chinese algae eaters, danios, etc. Current favorite of the community tank is my button ram named Mohawk. Have 4 tanks in the house going now, 140G > Community, 60G > Guppies that are my sons, 50G > Angelfish that are my daughters, and a wee 3G > A Goldfish that is my daughters as well. Watch the 140G all the time, its better than tv. And no we don't raise the guppies as feeders for the angels, I don't believe in feeder fish as a personal opinion but won't enforce my belief on you so no worries there. That's it I guess. oh and recently added shrimp to the community tank Amano. Funny looking critters that fight my Variatus (?sp?) for their food piles LOL.
