  1. I actually think it was the PH being so acidic , seems to be good now
  2. Yah, that is what I am going to do. More algae wafers instead of shrimp pellets thanks
  3. algae wafers, shrimp pellets, fine flake food and I am going to not feed them for a day every 5 or 6 days just in case I am overfeeding and to let them digest.
  4. I have a few baby cories that have developed bug-eye and seem to be bloated , any ideas of what it might be ??
  5. bloating and pop-eye in baby cory cats???

  6. That is pretty much everything my Kribs did when they were protecting eggs in a cave. Alot of cichlids have a spawning ritual that they shimmy and twitch at each other. They are a shy fish and will be even more when the fry exit the cave area. I just ground up flake food to a powder, but they will eat and pick at almost anything. I did have a few females kill off the males but I wasnt sure if that was related to protecting the fry. I guess if it all happens like mother nature intended too, keep an eye on how she treats the male. The Kribensis are hardy little fish.
  7. My Kribensis did the exact same things and it turned out they were protecting the eggs laid in the cave. So that being said, I would believe she is protecting eggs for sure. They breed like flies once they pair off it seems, or at least mine did.
  8. I have an aquarium maintenance business here in Kelowna and I have dealt with them for quite some time now. I have ordered a number of custom tanks over the years and have had great success in their product and shipping. They seem to be really busy so be a little patient in getting a quote from them. All I can personally say is thank goodness they are in business, they do a fantastic job.
  9. Does anyone out there in fishy land know how to sex the Clown Plecostomus
  10. I am not sure, I didnt realize how many different ones there were. I saw the ones one Youtube.
  11. I am trying to find Black Cories (Venezuelan)
  12. I am looking for 10-20 adult female bushynose plecostomus .....any color
  13. I think alot of the loaches available are beautiful, not ugly. Try a couple Clown Loaches or YoYo Loaches. One time I put a small chunk (1"x1")approx of lean steak in on top of a fish net and left it there for about a day or so and you would not believe how many snails came to feast on the peice of meat. Just dont leave it in too long obviously. Any of the Botia type loaches are probably you best bet, I think.
  14. Everything I've been told or read is that they are a cross between a Gold Severum and a Red Devil. I also read that they are "mules" . I have seen them with African Cichlids, tinfoil barbs, jack dempseys and even larger goldfish. I also have seen a few that are just nasty. They must have taken on the Red Devil attitude. Most however are pretty good as long as the aquarium is a fair size.
  15. I am looking for adult female bushynose plecostomus ..... any color hopefully 6 or so
  16. How much are the calico bushynose ?????
  17. I like the look of the black silicone much better, but I found the clear was so much easier I guess to work with.
  18. I would definetly use the filter from the small tank and put it on the larger one. It usually takes at least 4-6 weeks to really get the bacteria colonies going in any new filter. The use of cycle would be good as it feeds the filters with the beneficial bacteria you want. I add extra filter material like bio-balls or ceramic discs in my filters, just to increase the area for good bacteria to grow. If I need established filter material, I then just take a bunch of bio-balls or discs from the established filter. I always like having at least 2 different filters on one tank, just so when I clean one of them, there is always a well established one that hasnt been touched or cleaned yet. I alternate cleaning them, at least 3 or 4 weeks apart.
  19. Just wondering if anyone else saw the program on the Rift Valley Cichlids on Oasis ..... yesterday

    Hey Everyone

That is what I think makes the fish hobby so interesting is that you never stop learning. You could have 1000 aquariums set up and each and every one is totally different. There is really nothing like the hobby of keeping fish.
  22. if you could get me store names.... that would be great ..... Im in B.C.
