  1. I use medical alcohol...add slowly until a few ml at a time. (not adding to the tank silly) If alcohol makes us feel gitty and happy...I'm sure the fish are enjoying it too!
  2. Dunno if anyone else had posted but I was looking for this a little while back. However I'm in Calgary. Good of you to post this though.!
  3. nteresting growth. From what your saying by the demeanor, I'd suggest to euthanize.
  4. a good keyword search using Uncle Google is the most productive in my case
  5. They do have a relationship...although not what i think you think I wrote about. You should not run co2 24/7 as the plants do not use co2 at night. On some level the fish are gassed by an increasing amount of unused co2 during the night most high before the lights come on...to once again have photosynthesis. Once the lights come on the co2 levels will slowly decrease...and the ph will again increase. Aside from air stones or water surface agitation...o2 levels will be at their lowest just before the lights come on...because all night the plants have been using avaliable o2. The fish have also been using avaliable o2. Perhaps the angels do not like the ups and downs. For a test, I'd be interested if you stop co2 when the lights go off and see what happens.
  6. yip...loads of good rocks in the area. love dem dar mountains!
  7. ...why it's VERY important to cut off co2 production @ night. It's a double whammy on o2 - co2 levels @ night.
  8. I was under the impression that plants created oxygen in the tank.. No? 50% right. At day they make at night they consume. Easier than typing out a big blurb: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_do_plants_use_oxygen_at_night
  9. how long have the angels been in the tank? how long as this activity been going on? A fellow member asked about similar activity with stingrays a little while back...it was found they were just playing around, having fun sort of thing. also... do you shut off the co2 @ night or leave it running 24/7 ?
  10. so you use a co2 tank etc? In just quick thinking, fish going to the top gulping air and going back down seems to me low o2 levels in the water column.
  11. If people are looking at doing this perhaps might be good to create a list of products and suppliers.
  12. http://www.safe-guard-for-dogs.com/images/coupon.pdf A buck is a buck.
  13. G'day SpateD Excel is a very flexiable program. I use excel as the recording sheet for my auarium(s) information. The colums are for the indivdual specfic topics - e.g. pH, KH, GH, temp, wc%, plus anything I think may be usefull (breeding infor, etc...). I can average a coloums numbers to give me an idea as to when or how often a w/c is necessary/ or the percentage amount. The average fry success rate - food/fry //w/xc/no3's ppm/time The rows are the date lines. The nicety of excel; one can add "hidden" notes/information for any given topic. I find it neat, concise versitile program. Have a great day Smokey A standalone program just for this purpose. http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=36299
  14. No reason why not. BUT put on the outside of the tank just to make sure. Think i have an older Mickey Mouse privacy cover (a bit different than the car stuff but close) ...I should draw little wetsuits on Mickey and Minnie and throw it on the back ! lol
  15. I think their twitter post has a typo. RCS or CRS ! The grading 's' system is for CRS.
  16. I have not. Thought I had read that some fish get pissed off with a mirror. Give a try, does not hurt! If you don't like, it's an easy fix.
  17. Get some fendendazole. Need to kill some nasties and that will work 4 me.
  18. Give $5 for the eager beaver kid on your block and say you want it crystal clean. No more worries for you. Reminds of when camping when we were kids. We would pull water logged rocks out of the creek and throw them in the fire. One in four would explode. Yeah, wouldn't reccomend putting wet rocks into the oven. Those things can fly and make some crazy noise. Done many times, with no harm. Never had any issues. The purpose isn't to make the rock glowing red but to heat sufficiently to kill bacteria and parasite. (in this case any algae too) You want to sterilize things, the oven, i've always found is the best. For hobbiests who also have a green thumb...you can easily sterilize soil for your seed, again works like a charm.
  19. interesting but someone who has better make damn sure the seals and the pressures stay as is...if not ALL that vertical water is now horizontal along the floor!
  20. 1. Fancy cocktail topping (similar to the pink parasol) 2. Can be used for a facial (similar to those seaweed treatments) 3. Throw on your bad neighbors car windshield (those small leaves can only be scraped off after the sun bakes them on) just a thought
  21. If it is JUST rock...nothing else I will put it in the oven for a couple hundred degrees. An hour or so and everything is cooked. Give a scrub afterwards and things should fall off. Just my 2c
  22. I've always liked OSI products. Never had any problems in the past.
