  1. Based on what the tropheus looked like and the research I did on diseases it looked like cotton mouth so I would have treated for that. The reason I was wondering about treating the tank is that it's apparently contagious. My water conditions are all great so I guess I'll just keep up with them and assume it was stress that caused the tropheus to get sick even though I saw no signs of it. Thanks for the responses.
  2. Ok so should I treat the tank so that none of the other remaining fish get sick or should they be ok with just water changes? I was reading online that I could also add aquarium salt, would this actually help? Now I have to convince the mr that we need another tank because I really like the tropheus.
  3. I had him since we started the tank up, so 2 1/2 months ago. I sit and watch them pretty often and I hadn't seen him being chased around or anything. When we had cichlids previously we had tropheus in our tank and they did great so I just assumed it would be the same this time. Most of our fish are pretty small, I'd say between 1 1/2 to 3 inches and he only outwardly aggressive one is the OB. I've had him in a breeder box actually for a couple of weeks because he was harassing everyone but the tropheus and the calvus.
  4. It's a 110 gallon, its been running with fish fo about 2 1/2 months. We do weekly 30% water changes, feeding NLS sinking pellets, have occasionally fed some cucumber too. Tank mates are: OB peacock Blank calvus Kandango Eureka red 1, possibly 2 Sulpher head (one is a female that I posted about holding) A hybrid we were told is a red shoulder Albino peacock Taiwan reef Dragon blood Red peacock (labeled as that at big als) Yellow peacock (labeled as that at big als) Pseudotropheus polit Aulonocara sp. Stuartgranti Maleri Synodontis multipuncata
  5. Just came home and found our tropheus moori dead, he looked completely healthy yesterday but he is now covered in white fuzz. None of the other fish seem to be showing any signs of sickness but I'm wondering if we should treat the tank anyway?

    Females?

Yes the cage is in the tank, I read that it's good to keep the aggressive fish in the tank so that when he's released again the other fish won't treat him as new. I had to put my OB in there because he was being super aggressive to everyone else, he had 80% of the tank and everyone else was crowded into the remaining 20%. I think now that he was being so aggressive because of the female im going to release him once I get the female(s) out of the tank to see if he calms down. I haven't seen any mating behaviour in the fish I posted, the all get along great.

    Females?

If anyone could help confirm if these fish are females or not I'd really appreciate it If they are females I'd like to get rid of them asap so we don't end up with a bunch of hybrid fry. Please excuse the water stains on the back of the tank and the OB in fishy jail. These pictures aren't very close up but they're the best I could get without someone else swimming in front of the camera begging for food lol In this one it's the top fish I'm wondering about image image image image
  8. Thanks for the response. I was just planning on letting her spit in the tank and then I was going to trade her in. if one of the fry survived I'd keep it in my tank but I'm guessing none will.
  9. My tank was supposed to be am all male tank but we bought most fish as juveniles so we ended up getting a female. The fish in question was supposed to be a sulpher head and we do have a confirmed male sulpher head in the tank but I'm not positive that's who she bread with. Anyway on to my question. I first noticed her holding last Tuesday and her jaw was pretty swollen then, now it seems to be a lot smaller though. Is it possible that she just spit out some of the eggs? She's still not eating when I feed the others and is keeping her mouth pretty much closed all the time. I was also wondering if anyone can confirm that she is a sulpher head female? image by ncritch30, on Flickr
  10. Hi this is probably a long shot but I'm looking for a synodontis granulosis, is there any way you can get one of these?

    Hello

Hi everyone, my fiancé and I recently got back into the hobby. We have a 110 gal with African cichlids. Got most as juveniles this time so we can watch them grow up. We were going for an all male tank but some females snuck in so we've got one holding right now.
