  1. added a couple new fish a week ago ..after a 2 week quarantine tank stay. i take all precautions so i dont get outbreaks ...but still here i am battling ich. gonna read up a bit on uv sterilizers if reasonable price i will go get one...hate losing my fish.
  2. Just had another ich breakout second one in last 9 months.... saw my newest clown loach swim by with few white spots on him so i started treatment temp raising slowly to 86 or so added some salt have Rid-Ich plus but read dont add if raising temps as this also decreases O2 levels. as i was adjusting temp of heater i found my first casulity ...my largest clown floating under a chunk of driftwood....not happy at all should i add rid-ich? @1/2 dosage? tank is an 180 gal w/sump ...so large volume of water that needs treating after i beat this and i will beat this. need to up my clown loach numbers yet again... down to 3 now a 6" , 4", and a 3" left. me and clowns dont have best record. feel bad for my 6" now as they were best buddies
  3. Google it. Fairly easy to do yourself. On eBay sells it too but you trusting guy making it knows what he doing
  4. I also pledged to get a controller. $200 for one is worth it imo. If works as stated what a breakthrough for us planted guru's. I wish him the best in making this happen.

    Hello

    Yup starts with 1 smaller tank....then 36gallon..added 180gal....then 140 w/110gal sump...then a 40B.....15 shrimp tank...90 bow.... Who knows what is next.....
  6. Aquarium central for the most part has some of the most knowledgeable people that actually care about what your doing. Prices are bit high but still reasonable. Tanks are well maintained. Great plants. Best of all it is just fish stuff
  7. Hello all, not new too hobby at all but I never attempted to keep a betta fish ever and now.....kid kinda asking for one for her birthday and i am totally unsure of minimal requirements for said fish. can't trust interwebs at all as info is all over the place contradicting each other so I'll ask some pros (thats you guys) I am a kinda go BIG or don't do it at all guy. Kid will be taught the best fish keeping skills i know. (water changes ect will be dealt with or fish gets added to my collection) So basic questions are... Tank size: minimal or max too.... for a single betta and few possible tank mates(small tetras)(ottos)(if applicable) filter: sponge? HOB? circalation pump? air stones? gravel/sand best (color) lighting? decor? heater? temp required Not new but only want what is best for fish. And I know there are a few bettaholics out there
  8. Still holding water and now stocked. So nice I can now insta cycle. 2 large sumps I can steal bacteria ladden media.
  9. canister filter? if so can use an inline heater sump? -heaters go nicely in those too
  10. DIY stands easy to make. for a 120gal tank take you a few hours tops to build if you cut all wood yourself. (or you can ask Home depot/ RONA to cut for you) problem there there cuts will be off a bit here and there but not so much to affect build. basic frame would use around 6-8 2x4's an some screws so $30-40 for a basic stick framed stand. can skin it for another 30-50 too
  11. Resealed tank once more and it worked been holding water now for 48+ hrs. Would like to thank E90 for offering to replace or repair the tank for me. Good to see someone actually offer to rectify an issue of a leaking tank. Will definitely buy stuff off him again as he backs what he sells.
  12. Just got back in sounds like you got the MTS already. gotta love the hobby once it gets you ...you never get out. good to see you got deals and advice thus far.
  13. I only deal with guys... j/k 20 something'ish can possibly get you in trouble if not really 20'ish.
  14. ok just talked to them 22.7kg of #7 =5.90 2 bags would be 11.90 40kg of #8=11.50 50kg of #9=11.60 so all in all basically same price throughout No idea why they charged you what they did
  15. No idea I never asked price on #9. Didn't like look of it. Got my curiosity though now so ill call them to ask price on 7,8,9 to see if difference. I'll post findings later
  16. grabbed some SIL7 as 8 and 9 bit too big of grain for corys but 7 looked ok. 2 50lb bags for around $5 each. be the only place for me to pick up sand/gravel from now on
  17. Reseal attempt was a fail.. filled tank to about 8" depth and boom I get to mop basement floor again. Guessing leak is around the 6" depth as no issue until about there. Bottom seals are solid as no issues at 4" of water
  18. Tomorrow the big seal test. Gonna refill tank after work tomorrow. That'll give silicone cure time of around 60 hours. Here's too no leaks tomorrow!!
  19. Looks like I will be doing whole tank. removed half the background to where I thought leak was filled tank up 4" with no leak added another 4" if water and saw water on other end of tank. Can't tell where leak is. Gonna drain tank completely again after hockey game then remove all seals to attempt to reseal
  20. So frustrated right now.. built stand, made 3D background, installed said background, leveled tanki on stand, started filling it and bam at 1/2 way full noticed water coming from back corner somewhere. Not sure where leak is but now gotta drain then tear out background and reseal tank and hope does not leak still. Got tank from an AA member too. I should have filled before and installing background but I didn't so that's on me. I revealed a tank before with no issues..but wondering if I could just reseal just the seam I think it is or do you gotta do whole tank. Like I said frustrated right now so want a fast easy fix. Just wanted to set up another display now siderailed for a bit.
  21. Ive ordered from "The PlantGuy" with good sucess and decent prices. Think he is out of WPG. also i use AquaMagic off ebay too there located in Malaysia and never had an issue with them. Or just ask on forums here ...peeps usually have "extras" for cheap or free sometimes!!
  22. I am Leading towards 100 cardinals and a school of 25-30 pygmy cories or 20 panda cories which I will order from Spencer in early July. Might toss in a BN for bit of algae control or couple of larger snails.
  23. I just use AC110 filters cut to length i require. works good for me and fairly cheap. i always have at least one running in my sump so i have a cycled filter ready to go any time
  24. Dont usually ask for stocking ideas but...i am pondering what i want to do in newest tank doing a large school of corys (90%) chance of at least 15 of them Ok info on tank: aprox 90 gal bow front with an 3" wide 3D rock background made from styrofoam tank in 48"L x 26"H and 13"W at narrowest and 18" at bow canister filter and an AC110 2 x 150W heaters lighting still up in the air gonna be sandy bottom with few chunks of med driftwood and some crypts and an amazon sword centerpiece open to all kinds of fish that will work tanks i have now are: 180gal community with rainbows, clown loaches, BN, ottos, tiger barbs 140 gal mbuna 36 gal "Lazer" rainbow species planted tank 40 gal neolamp multis colony 20 gal shrimp tank(snail also) now looking to stock said 90 gallon soon so looking for ideas for stocking with corys in mind or other suggestions also
