  1. I have seen cjerrom's tanks and he is not bs'ing.
  2. Well get a passport and drop by for a visit.
  3. Very true Percilus. I have gone with the Marineland Planted leds and was very happy at first but did not like the light spread at the top of the tank so have added 2 more led lights, one from Stunner and another from U Techology Corporation which was $100 bucks for 14 meters. One is just on for a light for me to see the fish when I feed them before the main lights come on. For me the big switch was because of noise. Hated the fans on the T5. Yes with the LED's my chiller workes less and I use less energy but those are just bonuses. As for switching to LED's for plants just make sure you are over the 6000K range for a start. There are lots of other factors (spread, depth of water penetration, etc) but I see you are in Calgary so if you want send me a pm and you can come by my house and look at my tank and plants and see for yourself. I think it's funny that some people say LED's are 5 years away from growing plants. Yep hate the idea of jumping on the new band wagon. Going to stick with old tried and true. Got my incandescent bulbs any you watch all those people wilth fluorescent lights are going to discover its just a fad. LOL
  4. Wow. With that tank just starting for plants I worry you are a member of the Calgary Aquarium Society because of that set up I might have to remove myself from the aquarium beauitful competition.
  5. Sunfish huh? Would have thought with poison spines it would have been a "Lion" catfish. lion... cat? Sorry just my warped mind at work.
  6. Seems a valid argument to me. Just wondering though was the catfish alive or had it already.... Croaked?
  7. Well as of august you had 540 points which puts you at Grand Master Level 4 and I know I still have paper work from you which will put you into level 5.
  8. Wait a minute, you mean the guy who said I needed a 72 gal for cardinals and cherry shrimp misled me?
  9. No "I" don't grow great plants, I just give them the stuff to let them grow. BTW I thought it was co2 and plant reproduction for the talk?
  10. All who second the motion fishclubgirl out as vice and in as president. Lol. Carefull what you wish for...
  11. I went total led. Love it! No more fans! Nice and quiet, can grow anything (so far) that I can get my hands on. Oh and I also hear that they are cheaper to run, just a bonus in my opinion. I switched because of noise and heat, not for some bandwagon. Led lights are here now, yes expensive because they new, but they work great. Just have to do a little homework, no different than a cool white bulb vs a 6700k.
  12. If that is the only way that you can reproduce an aquatic plant, I look forward to the following information: Light level, Type, Ph, I think we can guess at the temp. Gree the plant must have been from seed so the gestational time must be..... Thank goodness we are not talking about fish, especially mouth brooders....
  13. You are able to reproduce a aquatic plant, have it spotted (witnessed) by someone else and you get points for doing it. Most importantly you must be a member of the CAS. You should also try and list what you have done to reproduce the plant. Ie: lighting type hours on, water temp etc. You can see a listing of the plants on the Calgary Aquarium Website.
  14. So what is the difference between a valley and a kuhli?
  15. I would keep going but I am not sure I could weather the storm.
  16. Over Hill over Stream.... Think I just better stop.
  17. Sorry about the Yo-Yo joke....I was just clowning around.
  18. Why not give your loach something to play with? Like a Yo-Yo.
  19. For 3 years I never got mail on a Monday or Friday. Must have just been recurring coincidence. I will pay more for shipping just so I don't have to cp.
  20. Do you have any 6ft suitcases that you could slip it\me into the show?
  21. Working on an online form Frogfish, the blank spot in the fist page between plant list and contact us is where I am going to set up the link. Just not sure how to get it forwarded to me and also was trying to cross reference the members name with the membership list so thal I only recieve valid emails. I'm just not as smart as you are fast.
  22. Ok I have been told I am volunteering / voluntold to run the HAP for CAS. What I found with the CAS HAP site was too many mistakes from plant names being changed, the time frame was too slow for getting the site updated and most of all I hated bothering the webmaster every time I found a change. You find a change, send out an email, 10 minutes later you find another, another email. I just hated being a pest. So I decided to make my own website for the HAP. Now it is still a work in progress but I think you can see where I am heading with it. Please let me know what you think and if (lol when) you find mistakes I have made let me know also any suggestions I am all ears. After all it's my first website and I know I have made mistakes. http://calgaryaquariumsocietyhap.ihostvm.com/
  23. I have ordered from them and they are great to deal with. Send you emails when they ship give you the tracking infomation so you can follow it and had no problems at all. If you do order the co2 line they do ship it as one section so you don't have to worry about it being 10ft pieces.
