  1. I kept a brackish tank once, and my Fig 8 puffer was soo cute.. Although he had a taste for BBgobies' heads. I personally would not recommend Fig 8 with BBgobies. Hydrometer are the best little device that they ever came up with. Make sure you mix salt with water before adding it to the main tank. Brackish tanks are fun, and not as hard work as those salties!
  2. She is eating shrimp, although when I opened the tank, she is SOOOO skidish! Hopefully she comes around to her inquistive manner...
  3. She seems to be eating some pellets.... I am going to try with some shrimp tonight. Seems she is ok, there is just a slight mark on her back. If you aren't looking carefully, you can't see it. Too close for me. Now unfortunately she seems very skiddish which she was not before. I guess I need to be even more careful than before
  4. If you know anything about stingrays, or have an interest in these fish, you I am sure have heard of Frank in Germany... He has built himself a MEGA tank It consists of 26,417 gallons of water. (yes Shane, I got this number right... ). Well he has now some 25 fish in already. He has the rarest sting ray you will every see. This tank makes me want something a little more than what I have.... Take a lookie! Go to the Mega tank area. It may take some time to download all the pics! http://www.freshwaterstingray.nl/Frames%20...ls/English.html
  5. I was cleaning my tank and one of my female Motoros was burried. Normally I know where all of them are (cause I want to be stung) and I suctioned on her. OMG that was sooo scary! I think she is ok, anything I should watch out for? She has a circle on her back where the suction thingy hit her, but no red.... She is calm and breathing ok, just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions for me (other than watch what I am doing...) :banned:
  6. How about borrowing some Bio-Balls from someone you work with?
  7. I have had a banjo catfish, and they are sooooo cool! Try to have a substrate that they can bury themselves in. Also, when you take them out of water they sqeak... It is soo funny to watch them bury themselves into the sand. Pretty hardy little guys. I have seen them at Paradise Pets (although their is a new fish manager that I don't know well) and sometimes at Big Al's. Pictus (IMO) get tooo big and hoplo cats get way to big for a ten gallon. Good luck with the search!
  8. Wow, some of you have some amazing collections of odd ball and predators. I have 2 motoro sting rays 1 retic sting ray 1 silver arrowana 1 clown knife everything else is pretty boring.....
  9. I almost fell off my chair! That is hilarous!
  10. What are you saying....? That someone logged on with your name and did this post? UHM WEIRD! :eh:
  11. saw them yesterday at Big AL"s I would love to have some.... There are still some left. I gotta agree with BigA, they would make a good snack for the RTC.
  12. I would like to put a big cichlid in my tank with some rays, arrowana, giant peru snail, a black ghost knife, suncatfish(that NOBODY ever sees)... Just wondering if anyone had an idea if I could put one in there and what kind Thanks in advance
  13. I have had those before. They are cool to watch when they eat crickets. Didn't do well in my tank with the rays cause rays need lots of water movement where as ABF don't like alot of movement. They are cool to watch though!
  14. Yes they do kick up alot of sand, but it is fun to watch. Any sand that does not have silica in it is recomended. So if it has shiny little bits in it, NO! The black sand that big Al's uses is beautiful, but pricey (esp for big tanks) I use play sand that I washed and washed and washed, and then washed some more (get the idea?) Bare bottom is easy clean up I tell you cause when you are changin water once a week, you will sometimes think that that bare bottom should have been the eaiser answer. I did read somewhere that rays like to bury themselves cause they feel that they are more concealed when resting...... Yeah cause I don't see that big circle in my tank with the long tail that is breathing....Sneaky. Anyways, it is all a preference, but keep in mind that with any sand that has any silica it can harm the rays cause it will scratch and irritate the rays that they will stress themselves out. Good luck! Are you thinking of getting a ray?
  15. I am in love with George!!! I never thought of the 97 market or TandT for food! Although WEM is far from where I am. Good tip, I am really dumb for not thinking of going there! Goof luck with George, and keep the pics coming, we wanna see the growth with him!
  16. Naaaaaaaaaaa... Sadly enough I think if my hubby was around he would want one. Thank goodness he only has one head, although the other one would probably be the one with logic. Sad though.
  17. Omg that is sooooooooo cool! Have you seen any movement? OOO this is tooooo exciting!
  18. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh you lucky gal! I am soooo jealous! That must have cost a purdy penny. I really want some, darn hobby that cost more than my car and trauck payment together!
  19. Those little marks, do they look like a ring with an inner ring...? Are they in a circular appearance at all? I am soooo leary with putting plecs with rays. The two that I have (a BN and zebra knock off that gets to be 12") are they but if I see any probs they are out. Rays should also not be kept with any syndontis either. Most ray keepers will tell you to get ride of the plec. What is the temp of the tank? Is she a new ray. When they are shipped (or when you buy a new fish), some pet stores add a slime coat protector to the bad which will help with the introduction into a new tank. Is the mucous stuff mixed with the sand? I would love to see a pic.... maybe that will help.(I also looooove to look at pics of rays) My girl always looks like she has sand mixed in with something, until she moves (esp climbing the walls), it seems to fall off......
  20. This is Hercules. He is listed as a Peru Giant snail. His shell is the size of my palmn. This is the only thing that my 5 yr old is interested in my tank Anyways, he is an awesome snail, and can hardly wait till he is full size! BTW he lives in a 230 gallon tank with the rays (that have no interest in him)
  21. not much too tell about him other than he is huge! Defintely bigger than an apple snail. Looks similar to that though. His shell is about the size of my palm. I will try to get pic of him soon. It is the only thing that in the tank my son looks for and asks me where he is if he can't see him. Loves his cuc though  He is aquatic, though goes for those breathes of air, like all snail do... I will see if I can google him to get some more info for you.
  22. Look at that purple!!! I don't know why but I love snails! Fins them fascinationg! Just bought a peru giant snail, and I love him. Any snail tips?
  23. Very cool! Wanna see pics of yours though!
  24. Soooooo cuties wooties!!! They look so healthy! Nice little plump bodies on them!
