Hi! Marital issues.. always good for a laugh! (At least, for the unmarried!) About the only thing I can think of would be to give her a squirt of Aquaplus, if you can, and keep the area mellow (quiet and somewhat darkened) to give her a chance to calm down. I don't know if the Aqua actually works or not, but I used it a lot when I had a fish 'traumatized', and it did seem to calm them. HTH!

Harold, you just crack me up! Larry, I'd recommend the laundry/furnace room; if you're like most of us, you'll start with something easy, and become intrigued.. next thing you know, you'll want to try more difficult fish, and then you'd have to move the breeding setup anyway. OR, you could put some tanks in both rooms, and just put the "easy" ones in the basement!

How did you/do you teach your kids about respecting the aquarium? I've been kicking around the idea of setting up a 10 or 20 gallon in my boys' room (they're only 2 years old), but I'm afraid that no matter what stand I use, they'll find a way to "quime" up to it and end up getting a blast from breaking the heater, or worse yet, break the glass! As it is, I'm just sick about having to sell my 90, and 60s, and 45s, ... you get the picture; like the rest of you, I'm sure, these damned things have me addicted, and it's hard to feature parting with everything! :cry: Yet I can't help but think that the safest thing to do is just to have NO aquariums until they're much older. How have you handled it? And have any of you had your child break the glass of a full aquarium?

Whatever you do, make sure that the weight will be properly supported! I know, we all think that we're doing that, etc., but you gotta be sure. Make sure your supports are UNDER the top board (or whatever), as opposed to attached to the side of the top board... I knew someone who used a desk with the sides being attached to the top instead of under it. It was for a 45 gallon, and lasted for about a week... then came crashing down in the night! You would not BELIEVE the amount of damage!!! Always err on the side of caution when it comes to setting up make-shift stands. If you do the cinder block thing, make sure you've got a good thick piece of plywood or MDF as your top, and then make sure it's waterproofed. Even if it's just a simple plastic lining on the top (a strong one), you need to protect it from water-damage.

Have you guys got a size specification on pic size? I generally cut 'er down to 500 pixels on the largest dimension (width or height) and go from there, but thought I'd ask..

Cool, Gr8Blade! Any thoughts on keeping them out of the tanks? I would get a good stand with a canopy, but the guy I'd get it from is too busy!!
