    Hello

Welcome, looks like a nice tank, hard to see in that pictures but I love angels
  2. Me too, there is a few I found and they were all very crappy
  3. Oh ok well I'll try the trial and see
  4. Thanks! Do you know of any freeware ones? I was using http://www.aquarium-manager.com/but they didn't update their google authentication and they site have been left alone since a while
  5. Hi, I was wondering what software/website you are using to track you aquarium stock and health?
  6. If that helps I'm using a kill-a-watt (device similar to the one listed up here) and my 25 gallon tank cost me around 7$ per month. That's considering a total electricity cost of 15 cents per killowatts (once you include all the fees that's about what we pay). My tank is at 82 degres and in average my house at 66 and lights are on maybe 12 hours a day.
  7. Thanks, i'm picking up an Enheim tonight so i'll see if I like it enough to get 2 more
  8. I definitly agree with you, regardless for insurance purpose you need someone checking on the house every 4 days, otherwise if a tank leak you're not covered, and I have 2 cats so i'll have someone coming pretty much every day, but it might not be a fixed schedule so I still need the feeder to take care of the fish, plus I don't really trust someone else feeding my fish (most people tend to overfeed).
  9. Thanks Candi it's good to know they do the job. I managed to find an Eheim for 15$ on kijiji i'll pick it up tonight, once I get back from Vacation and get my other tanks setup i'll get 2 more.
  10. Hi, Used definitly is a way to save I started keeping an eye open for some good to come up. Good to know both Nutrafin and Eheim is working good, no fry for now but I am trying to breed my angelfish so the options to have the 4 feeding a day would definitly be a plus.
  11. Hi everyone, I will be leaving for vacation in 3 weeks, and I leave the house a lot anyway so I was looking to get an automatic feeder. Did anyway of you have experience with them and any product to suggest? I'm also looking for something not too expensive as I will eventually be getting 3 of those. Thank you!
  12. What do you mean by that? Isn't it a good thing to have 0?
  13. Wow you guys nailed it. Thanks for that! I guess a good start to a planted aquarium is knowing what your plants are....Oh also quick question as I think about it today on the Egyptian head I notice lots of fur like algae, how can I control those and should I worry? I've been careful with natural light and although there is quite a bit in that room there is about never direct sunlight, water test have constantly been 0 amoniac, 0 nitrite and 0 nitrates for the past 2 months. Thanks!
  14. I'm in calgary too and my water is at 8.2 at the tap, still 8.2 in the tank I have 4 nice angels and they have eggs at least every week (still tying to get fry out of that tough) they don't seem to mind the high ph at all.
  15. Hi everyone! I am very new to real aquarium plants and not too long ago I bought 2 plants to experiment the only problem is when I got them I forgot to ask what they are and now I have no idea. Does anyone knows what those are? (the left one and right one, the one kind of in the middle is a very crappy artificial plant in the mean time I get more real plants) Thanks in advance!

    Hi Everyone

Thanks! I will be posting updates, I will get much better trust me, I think just changing the color of the rock for something natural will help a lot, but hey, got the rock and tank for free so can't complain
  17. This is my first tank, 25 gallon with 4 angel fish, 3 clown loaches 4 red wag platies and 1 small pleco. I am new to planted aquariums and when I see the other ones on here and makes me dream. I will change the gravel for a natural looking one in the next days, i've got the gravel I just need to do the job.

    Hi Everyone

Hi, My name is Anthony and i'm new to this forum and moved to Calgary 4 years ago. My dad used to have African and American Ciclids and my grandpa used to have all sort of fish when I was even younger when I was yonger so i'm not new to the hobby but this is my first time on my own doing it. A few months ago my girlfriend's mom gave me a 25 and 10 gallon fish tank she didn't want anymore and that's how I got started again. I've setup the 25 gallons with 4 nice size angel fish, 5 clown loaches (1 died) and 4 red wag platies I also latelly got one of the smaller species of pleco. I've setup the 10 gallon as a breeding tank just finished doing that last week, my angels are having eggs about everyweek so hopefullly i'll get some fry. I also just got another tank a 55 gallon and it still needs to be setup (need sand and a stand/canopy) Also this is the first time I am trying to get a planted tank, i've got 2 plants so far and they are doing well so i'm excited it will stay this way.
