  2. First batch is a month old David
  3. A buddy of mine threw a bunch of my pictures of my spawn together(with a soundtrack-hahaha) It's almost 2 minutes so be patient while it's loading David http://x2.putfile.com/videos/2901203746.wmv
  4. Hey Smokey, I've been able to count at least 30, which is a pretty large spawn..I've read about spawns as small as 7...I'm going to move them to their own tank fairly soon...I noticed there are two Adults in a cave together again, so I'd like to move the fry and do a couple large water changes to get them spawning..David
  5. I've never really got any GOOD pictures of them...they don't sit still in plain view for long...here's a couple though..David
  6. Yup Queen Arabesque Fry are doing really well-eggsacs are completely absorbed(I didn't lose one fry) and they're eating frozen BBS, sinking carnivore tablets, and algae disks...here's a picture from yesterday: p.s. the camera is a sony cybershot 3.2 megapixel...above picture isn't great, but i do end up with some pretty good ones-considering the size of the fry! David
  7. They're just having fun... night time is "day time" for them.. David
  8. My adults are about 4 inches, and yes they are the ones with the really fine lines...I won't be selling them for a long time-I want to make sure I get at least five for BAP...and besides, I'm in Winnipeg-long drive for you David p.s. nother pic.
  9. Hey Smokey, Eggs took about 4 days to hatch...they are now a little over 4 days old(the wigglers) and I'm thinking it's be almost a week before they finally absorb their entire yolk sac...here's some new pics from just a moment ago...they've colored up a little more, and grown considerably...David
  10. Welcome... where-abouts in Ontario?? David
  11. yeah...those are some nice saltwater pics..good job(on the pics, and the tank) David
  12. new pictures...wigglers are doing well...David
  13. you're welcome... How could I NOT share info??-If it wasn't for the internet I probably wouldn't have spawned most of the fish I have...It's a hobby-we should all be helping each other.. David
  14. Thanks Smokey-I will... I'm pretty excited about the whole thing-I'll be taking alot of pictures as they grow..David
  15. A secret?? hahahaha...no...that wouldn't be fair if I kept it a secret... <<---cut and paste from another post of mine somewhere else..At this point I've got 10 wigglers in the breeder basket, and a whole bunch still being cared for by the male... the temp is 82,(it was as high as 86 at times while conditioning them to spawn) the water is dechlorinated tap water with a ph in the high 7's, and a conductivity/tds( I can't remember which my meter is) of about 400--to me it's basically regular tap... I've had the fish for over 6 months and basically spent most of that conditioning them with tons of food and trying to figure out whether I had males and females...there are 6 fish in the tank(and a couple bristlenose fry as cleaning crew) 2 males and 4 females... I don't want to ramble on too much, if I missed something just ask... i think the biggest thing about getting some of the harder L#'s to breed is time...once the females are gravid with eggs, if the males aren't ready(sexually mature) you have no choice but to wait...and wait...all 4 of the females are gravid-I'm guessing the other male will eventually step up to the plate or they will breed with the current breeding male.. David
  16. For a tank that big, why not consider a wet/dry?? A friend of mine just built one out of a plexi-glass tank and some rubbermaid containers for compartments, and I think the most expensive part was the pump...He's filtering two 120 gallon tanks with it.. David
  17. thx Smokey, I'll probably start with bbs and sinking carnivore tablets-they're already pretty big, so their size alone will likely expand my options<---I won't have to choose things that are practically microscopic because the fry are.. david
  18. I'm not sure...he's doing a good job of protecting some...one of the other QA's in the tank keep's trying to get into the cave, and in the act of ejecting the "visitor" I think he dislodged some...He's very attentive to the remaining ones...I'm kindof glad some were dislodged-now I have some in the cave and some in the basket, so I don't have 'all my eggs in one basket' so-to-speak...And I can snap pics of the ones in the breeder basket as they develop/grow/color up, without disturbing him anymore..David
  19. thanks They're slowly escaping from the cave...I've got 7 in a breeder basket, and there's still a LOT in the cave...here's another pic...David
  20. First wiggler toescape from the cave-they're hatching!! David
  21. nope...I've had the adults for about 6 months, and this is the first spawn...I've raised a number of bristlenose spawns though, not to mention angels and discus-so I'm not too worried about raising the fry once they've done their part...David
  22. Sorry about the pic-best I could get...at approx. 4 days the eggs still look good, and the male is very protective of them...he immediately covers the eggs when I approach..David
  23. Pharmacy, Medical Supply store, or surprisingly some Swimming Pool supply stores will also carry it... David
