    Filtration

personally if i were you i would most likely go with 1- Aquaclear 70 or 110 hang on filter and 1- Rena XP2 canister. i have an AC110 and a Rena XP3 on my 90g Oscar tank (no live plants), dead silent except the waterfall and my water parameters are always on par. Originally i wanted to buy an Eheim canister but because of my budget at the time i went with the Rena XP series. To be honest the next canister filter i buy whether on a budget or not will be another Rena. I am very impressed with the quality, ease and efficiency with the Rena. I agree with RD thats its by far better to have 2 or more, especially on larger tanks.
  2. i feed my oscars cucumbers also, i dont peel it ,i wash it, cut it into a few slices then cut the slices in half. within a day the rinds are left and i scoop them out. i also feed them shelled peas, steamed cut up carrot and occasionally blanched spinach when the pleco doesnt guard it.
  3. hello, i recently aquired a used SW aquarium. i have it cleaned thoroughly with a vinegar/water solution, however the "pink stuff" is pretty stubborn.i have been told it is from healthy coral and shouldnt pose a threat to freshwater fish i would just like to get feedback on whether it is actually hazardous or not to a freshwater setup. the only "pink" left is stuck on the plastic corner overflow. any feedback/cleaning advice will be greatly appreciated.
  4. Hello, I am replacing a bulkhead in a tank of mine and im just wondering what type of glue/cement would be best to attach the pvc tubing into the bulkhead. It is the "in tank tubing/sprayhead" coming up from the sump/resevoir if that plays a factor. any advice feedback will be greatly appreciated.
  5. heres a short clip of one running , maybe im just a newb but i found this very cool lol http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~chuffard/ind...rain%20walk.mpg
  6. Thats great to hear because in Lethbridge, the prices are very high. im not trying to sound cheap, but saving 60% by ordering through them is quite the difference maker lol.
  7. hello i recently came across http://www.petsandponds.com/securestore/. i am just wondering if anyone has used them before, their prices seem very very good and the shipping cant be beat. which leads me to wonder if it is legit. i have tried to look around find out how to tell if it is a legit company or not, with no success. i am hoping someone knows of them or possibly purchased from them before. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  8. IMO: Personally i think 2 oscars to a min 90g. by themselves is adequate. being a 120g tank is not alot bigger and i believe the combo of fish you have listed may be overstock for that tank. i know Oscars,JD's,FM's can all get along (temperments pending), but to have a pair of each in a 120 i believe is too much. Depending on which fish you like the most i would go with a pair of them. and maybe 1 of the others. I think 2 JD's and an Oscar would be pretty cool (im not big on FM's). you could probably get away with another fish or 2, maybe even what you listed, but it would need massive filtration and a strict, well maintained PWC schedule. I have 2 Oscars in a 90g, albeit they are only 5" now, when they are full grown they will dwarf the 90g. i have an AC110 and a Rena XP3 on it & 30% weekly pwc , even though it is adequate iam going to add 1 more AC 110. Adequate Filtration=good,Overfiltration=best.
