I would suspect the pleco. Just get a good glass cover to keep them in.

Blast...I cannot remeber the taxon, but I do know that they are from estuaries and need fairly brackish to marine conditions.

Veils are just the most common of lines, so many betta-snobs (like Chris :P ) look down on them. Personally, I far prefer wild-types (plakats) and other species (like imbellis, smaragdina, etc), but I still think that a nicely coloured veil is worthwhile.

Is that a piece of styrofoam cup? Someone online suggested to try squares of that styro mesh that they put on apple-pears....it works fabulously!

Powdering flake works well...as do small live foods like microworms, or frozen like daphnia...or even a tiny bit of hard-boiled egg yolk.

Depending on the exact species, males tend to have much larger and prominant 'bristling' than females.

How much is it? I ran into a chap all ready to buy the one at the new PetLand (130 ave.) today for $850 (over $900 after gst) and told him that you guys had one that was easily as nice, and that I thought it was either $499 or $599.
