    Boop food

Thanks Neil The Nkambes love the pellets they just won't take to the flake I was just being cautious better to ask 10 stupid questions than break out the clout.

    Boop food

Well I was worried about them getting bloat .I'm old school and the only food I used in the past was aquarian flakes and Hikari bio gold and never had any problems so with switching to a new product I will have some questions.

    Boop food

They are almost the same just they are jet black with blue specks and steaks these came from Golds
  7. I've got a group of 10 Ophthalmotilapia boops (neon streak) I've been feeding them NLS optinum flakes and all is good except now I added 6 L.Nkambes and 6 Cyprichromis blue flash to the tank and the Nkambes do not like the flake(tried for a long time in other tank) So I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with NLS cichlid formula(sinking pellets) with the more sensitive tanganyikans ?
  8. Yeah I was checking them out on other sites and none of them looked good and not all that expensive(as compared to most asian varieties)

    Cattails

I'm gonna get the seeds right away already drove by them twice this morning.I'm a little disapointed about how slow they grow but if I plant them in pots I can always move them to the greenhouse in the spring.
  10. WOW! That is amazing what the hell is one of those bastards worth? Should I sell my boat?

    Cattails

I was thinking of going to the frozen pond and getting some cattail seeds and grow them in my Koi trough in the basement any info on germination and growing them would be helpful? Thanks.
  13. Yes they did but these were the most harmless introductions they only released smallmouth into Island lake north of smokey lake and the carp were genetically engineered triploids with a low probability of reproducing but they are anyways. The indroduced trout seem to have caused the most problems and enjoy the protection of goverment regulations as do the Jewels,Mollies and mosquito fish in Banff even thou they were responsible for the extinction of the longnosed dace
  14. I'm sure! The only native rainbow trout were in the Athabasca river drainage and that strain is now threatened because of the introduced strain of rainbows. Also introduced by the goverment or thier employees where Brown trout ,Brook trout,Golden trout,Yellowstone cutthroat trout,Dolly varden,Smallmouth bass and grass carp. Many of these introductions have displaced or threatened native species
  15. Just checked my Alberta fish book (first printed in 2003) and there are no endangered fish in the province some are rare or at risk but I don't think a kid with a butterfly net is the reason for this also found out the goverment releases millions of non native fish in this province and they have the nerve to threaten sombody with a fine for keeping a few minnows in a fish tank
  16. Sombody could do the same thing with goldfish If people can be expected to be responsible with them than why not with a native fish
  17. It was about 12 years ago and Burnstick creek is in Alberta. I think fish and wildlife has better things to do than worry about a few native fish in sombodys home aquarium
  18. Permit ? Whats a permit. One time while collecting Iowa darters in Burnstick creek I was approached by a fish and wildlife officer we talked I told him what I was doing he was good with it just told me they could never be released back into the wild anywhere.
  19. I've had all the fish(pike ,perch, walleye, shiners, burbot)plus other native fish in aquariums and they all did well northern pike were my favorites I grew one from half inch to 28 inches pike are awsome aquarium fish
  20. When in dout use clout it's available in most pet stores
  21. I wouldn't worry about the water conditions to much as most of your choices will do fine in your local water You need to worry about aggression Try to get very young fish of the ones you like and let them grow up together I've never had a bloodparrot but I've seen them in stores and they seem mellow I don't think they would be much of a threat to fast young cichlids
  22. Cinber blocks work great nothing stronger just put a sheet of wood on top and check the level .Way back before electricity I built aqua stands with empty beer cases cheaper than cinder blocks.(not completley empty they had the empty bottles in them)
