  1. I'm not convinced they are peruensis hence the question mark by the picture. I will give them some more time to color up, but they all look like males to me. There might be some females hiding in the thick vegetation I have in their tanks but I have not spotted any.
  2. Here are a few more pics of recent arrivals Peruvian Angel Assorted tetras Some pics of the wild Discus we got a couple month ago that I decided to keep for awhile. I have about half of them eating NLS pellets now but still have to give them live food every couple days. It is also my first attempt at a planted tank. I put the apple tree branches in to prevent Harold from sneaking in a net when I'm not looking ha ha.
  3. Bad -- unless I'm not sexing them proper they are looking like they will be Barracuda food
  4. Got a bunch of fish Tuesday evening here are pics of a few Motoro stingray Corydoras weitzmani P. peruensis ? Were supposed to be Apistogramma Inka 50 but are a different kind of apisto Tiger oto -- some of the bigger ones ( now dead) were topping out about 3.5 inches Smaller Wild blue Discus not showing any color yet

L-066 very nice and active pleco's ready to breed Acclimating some new arrivals
  6. Took a few more pics last Saturday L-025 nice little 7 pointer Ruby magnum pleco LDA -007 we always thought they were the same as L-114 but one look at a live one and you can see these guys are not. Spiny monster cactus pleco -- these guys are sweet worth 2 pics Spotted Tiger pleco L-163 I have a group at home they are always out and begging for food Sun Catfish Bucket of pleco's I brought to Harolds last Saturday Nice synodontis looking for new home
  7. I run into large tiger salamaders while collecting live food in the early spring. I have seen them nearly 12 inches long and they tend to be grey with a few black bars on them at that size. They don't really look like the photo but it could be due to decomposition.
  8. That's to bad about losing the male -- I also wonder if they breed true. I just took a look at some wholesale lists that have electric blue rams available and I am shocked at the 50 dollar price tag, even at 15 dollars they would already be doing quite well.

    Live food from ponds

Some of the ponds are really starting to load up now. Got lots of daphnia and fairy shrimp yesterday afternoon in a very short time.
  10. Hmmmm and I thought this thread would involve a plastic bottle, drano and tin foil --- oh well the tank looks good anyhow.
  11. For bloat Clout is the cure --nothing better ----well we may have something better but you would need a prescription and it still in the trial stage.

I'll sell my Member journal to the highest bidder -- not for that check thou it's expired.
  13. I'm not on the same page as the people wanting to change things. It's called an auction because it is an auction and most aquarium clubs in the world hold auctions to raise funds because this method works. I'm pretty sure that a Calgary Aquarium Society garage sale will come no where near the amount of funds raised by the tried and true auction.
  14. I have to agree with geleen -- feeding all that food and only using a low flow sponge filter plus only 10 percent water change a week you should have some kind of nitrate/nitrite/ammonia reading.
  15. If you are transferring cycled media either by using the old sponge or moving the old filter into the new tank it will be instantly cycled and you can start adding a few fish right away and increase the amount of fish slowly over a couple weeks. Here is an old thread on bacteria growth. http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=35118&st=0&p=2250840&hl=+nitrifying%20+bacteria&fromsearch=1entry2250840

    Live food from ponds

I wish I had that kind of problem. The fish will clean them up pretty quick well before the critters can breed or hatch. Also there is no such thing as a fish that's not used to live food , they will scarf it down no problem

    Live food from ponds

If the water is open you can check -- every pond produces at a different rate. the ones that completely dry up in the summer will have food available sooner.
