I have owned a reef. I have set up reefs. I dont have one right now because i took it down when somebody offered me some money for it and grade 12 came along so i decided to take it down until after grad. I know what i am doing when it comes to saltwater. But hey its a free world u dont want to listen to my comments u dont have 2.

Yes they do realize it. The reason they stop flaring is b/c they are used to the barrier. Now if you take the same 2 bettas and place them on opposite side. like red from right put it left and blue place it in left from the right they will flare. I have 2 juveniles in my 36 inch long tank and they stay on opposite sides. But the 2 adults fight. You can always try. Also not all bettas nip some just flare each fish is different. Just make sure you supervise the fish if you do put them together.

Well how r the yoyos doing? I am finding empty snail shells so urs have to be working. Give us an update.

Well today the little males in the tank have figured out the bigger ones (CT and Delta) are in the barracks and cant get to them. The littles one swim up to the barracks and start flaring. When the bigger ones start flaring the littles ones dont give up. It is funny to see it is alomst like they are teasing the larger bettas. Still no aggression between the smalle bettas. They were swiming together. No flaring just keeping their fins semi raised.

Maybe she isnt ready to lay??

Andy with no filter i would highly suggest a skimmer unless u put alot of filter feeders in there.

No my opinion doesnt matter but i think that if somebody wants to try something they should be allowed to do it and not be yelled at. Let them experiment. Well once again i woke up to both Bettas with no tears or rips in their fins. Exept today they were only about 15 cm away from each other so this is good if i can get them swimming together that would be cool. How many ppl do u know with 2 bettas in a tank as small as 40 gallons. Ryan :ml:

Smokey u cant grow algea b/c of ur water lol. I got a light here that will make it so u dont have to use that flashlight to see ur fish. Grow ya some algea for ya lol. I call it Mr. MH lol. U may want to look into MR. Power Compact. Ryan :ml:

Ah screw what people here say abotu hi breds. The best dogs in the world have been hienze so it must be the same with fish. Think about it. People buy and breed red and blue guppies all the time what would the difference be between breeding a red zebra and a different one. So what. If you want to do it do as nike says "just do it". I mean pures arw a nicer fish but hey. No offence to all the people who strive for only pures. Ryan :ml:

Well i bought 3 male bettas as most of you know. I plced the delta with the CT in the main tank well that didnt work out. So i put the D and the CT in the Betta Barracks and the 2 small fighters in the main tank. Well it is working they both stay on opposite sides of the aquarium and no fins are shredded, no bite marks, no flaring, no nothing. Even at feeding time they swim right by each other with no proble. Maybe it is their size or maybe not bu i realy do hope this works . I will keep you updated. Ryan :ml:

man no wonder you have so much light. How long are the bubls on for and look into swords they love that much light. Dont let smokey see that rainbow he wants them. O smokey they have/had some in pet parade.

bozco dont get a head of yourself here. Now by a water change does he mean just the water because like u said that wouldnt work. But if he siphoned off the gravel then dumped it in their it would work. It would siphon up bacteria. I would run a sponge filter in your main tank though for times like these. Then you can just use the sponge filter to help cycle the tank. But i dont see what the rush is. I just came off saltwater do you know what the cycle of a SW tank. Minimum 6 weeks. The common FW tank will cycle in 2 weeks. Just go buy yourself some guppies or some zebra danios and cycle it like that. JMO Ryan :ml:
