RD.
As previously mentioned, all OB peacocks are hybrids, it is a man made strain that does not exist in the wild. The origin of this species is just that, fish soup.

albert_dao
I don't see the problem with OB's. It's not like anyone will mistake them for, say RUBY RED PEACOCKS, and accidentally produce some unwanted offspring. And hell, even if they did, they would be sold as *gasp* OB PEACOCKS. Personally, I love OB's....these are just the best I have ever seen.

RD.
Cpt - FYI This fish was allegedly created by originally crossing an OB zebra or marmalade cat, then crossing back with the original peacock to retain the Aulonocara shape. Several 'pink' peacocks and a range of hybrid albino peacocks also exist. BTW - for those that aren't familar with OB peacocks, being that they are a hybrid mix with various species involved, one can never be certain (when buying unknown juvies) what their max size will be, or their aggression levels. Some are quite calm & max out in the 4-5" range, and some get much larger & can be quite aggressive. I've seen examples of both. Edited November 24, 2004 by RD.
