Crumbled flake is OK but you could get liquid fry food if the platies are really small. then, for easy feeding, why not try chopping up some earthworms? (They stop wriggling after you cut them into 16ths.) Make sure you clean them first. or even better, get some beefheart from Superstore or whatever. feed a little at a time though.

I have had success with crumbled flake, frozen mysis shrimp and even hard boiled egg yolk. You have to be really careful with the egg yolk as it will give you an ammonia spike faster than you can believe.

If you have a tank with live plants, there is often lots in there for them to forage as well. I have most of my fry hiding in a couple of balls of java moss.

I found you also have to do almost daily water changes to encourage their growth so they get full size...
