Vallisneria
They look like really cool fish It seems they form monogamous pairs and get quite large(12") and is aggressive http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.cfm?id=8628 Never kept(or even seen them before) myself and there didn't seem to be too much coem up when i did a search on them. Seems like it might be a good candidate for the african version of CA tank busters.
rahim101
Be prepared to designate a 45 - 55 gallon tank to one pair. Buy about 6 and they will kill the un-welcome ones leaving a pair!!!! Good tank mates are Frontosa, as long as they are bigger then the elongatus!!!!!!
Vallisneria
Be prepared to designate a 45 - 55 gallon tank to one pair The websites say they get 12", wouldnt' they need a larger tank then a 55g(12"wide)?
shawntraviss
It depends on the make of the tank, if its a 40g BREEDER its 36x18x15 tall, if its a 50 SHORT its 36X18X19 if its a 55 NORMAL its 48X12X19 or if its a 45 its 36X12X24 so as you can see a 40g breeder would be perfect, same with a 50g short
rahim101
They wild caughts that Gold's brought in were no bigger then 6-7"... 12" is a maximum size in the wild, they will not get that big.... I say they would be about the same size as thier parents!!!!!!
