Sam Chicklets
I love these guys, they can sure go to town on a tree digging for beetles Edited September 1, 2007 by Sam Chicklets
patrick
Yes they look awesome. This is the first time I've seen one close up. I have heard them many times, since they sound like a construction site when they start hammering. You don't want to wake up with a hung over out camping with one of these working on the tent pole :bang1:
Slough Shark
He was my favorite cartoon character. They sound like you have carpenters in your head when you can't figure out where they are!!! Dang woodpeckers are tough to get close too! Toirtis
Very cool...mostly I get northern flickers and downy woodpeckers around my place...sometimes 6-8 at once on my big tree.
Slough Shark
I get the same as Toirtis, not nearly as many. And I do see a couple of Hairy Woodpeckers from time to time. We even had a small group of Spruce Grouse out front!
geoff
last winter we had one of those guys nearly kill one of our 80 year old mountain ash trees . He left 2 foot by 1 foot patches with no bark.
