On the males the first dorsal fin will touch or cross the beginning of the second dorsal when folded down. The females first dorsal will fall short of touching. That is the case with Turquois and Red Rainbows and many other types of Rainbows that the males and females are colored the same.... its not an exact sience from my expierence but a good indication.... It has to be a royal pain to try and see the gap with the fry that size tho... I am going to go and see if I can see the gap with my Boemani fry.
