patrick
The first one is Xystichromis sp. "Dayglow" from Lake Kanyaboli. They are spawning and the young male is flaring for the female that you can see in the corner with a mouthfull of eggs. The second one is Ptyochromis sp. "Hippo Point Salmon" from Lake Victoria. This is a young male starting to color. The are specialized snail eaters that have developed a way of getting the snail out of the shell without braking it. The live in the muddy/sandy areas of the lake. The third one is a Neochromis omnicaeruleus "OB Muhuru" male. He belongs to the "Mbipi" group which in Lake Viktoria is the equivalent to the Malawi "Mbuna". Xystichromis sp. "Dayglow" Ptyochromis sp.
