patrick
I had some deformed Callochromis macrops and decided to see if my Pyxichromis orthostoma would live up to their reputation. They did. One of the smaller females eating a fish about half her own size The smallest male The largest male with a fish half way down his stomach
Slough Shark
Very cool. Disturbing? It's only nature! The shot of the smaller male is excellent, really reminds me of my Leaffish.

The spine was like that since birth. I had a few fish from that particular batch that had similar deformaties. Maybe it has something to do with the female holding the fry way too long? Not enought room and they can't grow properly?

Nyasa
I'd be interested to hear how quickly these fish grow. That's certainly a high protein diet.
