Also he is gunna have live plants with tropical fish Would it be over kill? Is there a way to adjust the flow? oops i think i should have posted in equipment thread.. If so, he will not need nearly as much biological filtration as a fish only tank (the plants will be sucking up the ammonia/nitrites/nitrates.) I say overkill. I would think if you cut back on your output with the valve you will just make your motor work harder and maybe cause a few other problems. I have an eheim 2250 on a 90G tank and it filters tanks up to 254 gallons, besides that the tank has an additional AC 70. If he wants to buy it, let him buy it, he will probably be happy he did.
