HarleyBeautiful
Interested in getting an eel. Just wondering everybody's experiences with them and advice. I am after something for a smaller tank (33) if even possible. any thoughts on types?
AndyL
There is a "Dwarf" species of eel - Golden eel. Stays smaller - 12-14" Good luck finding one though. Albert dao's got one I hear - one of these days I'll twist his arm into selling him to me Andy
HarleyBeautiful
How hardy are they? what about "eel proofing" your tank so they can't escape?
albert_dao
If you have enough rockwork, the likeliness of an eel wanting to escape the tank becomes minimal. I've never lost an eel to the floor and none of my tanks have covers. Edit: I've had this one snowflake for almost three years now. Edit: Melatremus is super hardy IMO, just pricey (at least $100 through Gold Aquariums, I imagine much more anywhere else).
