Yes of course. Keep in mind how many fish and certain "pigglet" ones , the more filtration you need. A good way to look at it is if the filter can process 10X your tank volume at least every hour , you should be good. ie. for a 40 gallon tank , a filtration of 400 per hour is great. On the box you'll see the numbers are roughly 4X. IMO , that simply will never be enough unless your tank is very low populated. So my newest filter I acquired is a Elite Hush 55 , recommended for 35 - 55 US Gal. IMO , no way would I use it exclusively on anything bigger than a 25Gal.

So to sum up my ramblings, aim for at least double what the product claims it's good for.

I find you can never over filtrate just over stimulate. What i mean is there is never to much filtration you can just cause the tank to be to turbulent for fish to swim. I run 2 110 AQs on my 90 along with a strong power head and my fish love it. If you were going to buy another filter for that tank go bigger more filtration is a good thing to little and you will have to buy more in a couple of months as you fish grow....
