Fishful Thinking
Would an XP-4 be enough filtration for a 90 gallon tank of 22 full-grown tropheus?
patrick
Would an XP-4 be enough filtration for a 90 gallon tank of 22 full-grown tropheus? I would say yes, but add a powerhead or a hydor koralia for extra flow. Edited January 16, 2009 by patrick
Fishful Thinking
What would be the advantage of the powerhead? To make sure there are no dead spots in the tank?
punman
I don't need one in my 90 gallon with two A Clear 110s but need a power head in my 180 as the canisters don't stir things up enough for me.
JORG
A 90 is a bit small for 22 full grown tropheus but hey not saying I wouldn't do it, but I would add a aquaclear 110 and let both filters run it will give you the benifit of cleaning one when ever nessasary and still having one run with all goodies intact. With that many Tropheus in a smaller (for them) tank even with heavy water changes one filter may not be able to keep up.
Fishful Thinking
Thanks, guys. I am just looking at worst case scenario at this point. I don't think 22 tropheus will be the end result. Probably it will end up somewhere closer to 15, depending on how it works out. I just wanted to see what my eventual filtration options would be down the road. Right now I have a cascade 1200 on both of the tropheus tanks because, like you said JORG, it is handy when cleaning.
