Pruning

I am kinda new to planted tanks and was just wondering how to prune vals. Mine have grown so high that they have come across the top of the tank and are coming down the front. Do I just clip them at the water surface, at the base or remove the whole plant?

I agree with abc on this one. In horticulture we learned how to trim various plants so that they look more natural and not like they had a bad hair cut. I cut mine at an angle too, and at least they still look pointy at the ends instead of straight. For things like giant vals you can cut them in a v shape, by cutting it at 2 different angles.

I let them get a bit unruly, then I pull out the biggest ones and sell 'em - big plants always get the most intereste and best price! :)
