EowynJane
I was just wondering if 2 - 70 gallon rated canister filters would be to much filtration/flow for my 50 gallon cichlid tank? It's currently stocked with Acei and Labs. I know I need another filter, I'm just worried that might be to much for it.
jvision
Sounds about right.
T Dawg
Keep in mind rating numbers are max, and you can usualy reduce flow. My filters are rated up to a max 250 Gallon, and my tank is 90 Gallons.
hybrid
Nothing wrong with 2 cannisters on a 50 but I would reccomend a filtration system that has a "BIO_WHEEL"
snaggle
As long as you fish can swim with out any trouble then your ok. I didnt think that you can over filter but you can over power.
EowynJane
Sounds good, thanks! I ended up getting a good deal on another fluval so I'll have 140ish filtration on my tank. I'm thinking of putting the hoses in the oppsite way of the one I have now. So there will be an output at the top and an intake at the bottom at each side of the tank. Good idea? jvision
That's how I have mine set up. I'm thinking that when I modify them a bit, I'll put the intakes at the back corners, then have the spraybars across the back.
