Raven
Midnight, my black mystery snail died. She got stuck under the drift wood and i didnt notice till i seen her ..... trap door.... on the gravel near the glass. I want to keep the shell, as a decoration and for a project in the future. But i dont know how to get the junk out or how to get rid of the smell. Yuk.
Toirtis
Give it a week or two in a jar of tank water on a windowsill.....stinky, but it will be plenty clean afterwards.

fatpuffer
get a crayfish and let it finish him or her off...or pour scaulding hot water and the meat would just slide right off...just like escargot...lol js
Raven
The thing is all i can see it that its empty all ready.... a reason the water is yellower the usually. I ran it under the tap and all, but it still reaks ans im not sure that it is clean. Plus would a crayfish kill my other snail?
fatpuffer
yeah they may try to...just pour hot water...go outside where it will not stink up the place. boiling should kill any bacteria that is causing the odour. if not, does it still stink under water? good luck... js
Pufferpack
I have had to do the same thing with a few of my snails, and as fatpuffer says, just give it a quick wash with boiling water and then let it dry out for a week or so, the smell goes away with no problem.
