Morphine Posted January 5, 2011 Report Share Posted January 5, 2011 Hey, Recently I watched as my sword sent out a long runner. This runner went straight up out of the water. It did not flower and it's still growing. This runner has different dections that are starting to grow new leaves, it also sent out another runner from this runner that's growing to the surface as well. What is this? I didn't think this is how sword plants duplicate. If it is how do I split it for new swords? If you need more of a picture I can snap a few photos, but I hope i'm reaching out to the flew planted tankers taht this has happened to and they know exactly what is going on with my vague and bad description. corrosionjerry Posted January 5, 2011 Report Share Posted January 5, 2011 That is exactly how they propegate / they send out a runner that has babies on it, that can be taken off once they devlope some root growth and replanted or you burry the runner in your substrate and the babies will root themselfs that way. What I do is wait until there are a few leaves and substantial root growth before removing from the runner. That way, your plantlets are given the best chance at survival.
