ariverrunsthroughit19
has anyone had any experiences with these fish? Edited September 7, 2011 by ariverrunsthroughit19
JORG
I have a couple dozen here they are very active and entertaining. They need to be kept in schools.
Evolution
They are a highly aggressive shoaling fish very closely related to the piranhas. They have huge appetites and should be feed regularly and with meaty foods. If they go unfeed they will fin nip each other and anything else in the tank. meowmix
Make sure to keep them in schools of atleast ten, the more the better. Also throw the usual stocking out the window the more the better. Had 65 of these guys at one point, one of the only groups of fish I felt regretful about selling. JORG
I wouldn't call them aggresive but they are definatly high energy. They will on occasion pick at the scales of other fish so I wouldn't reccomend them with docile mid-top water fish. I have kept them with cory's, pleco's ,oto's and a variety of catfish while storing them without problems. Mine are currently housed with a bunch of Tanganyikan cichlids all is good. They really like strong current I'm not sure they require it but they love to play in it all day long. I feed them the NLS 1 mm pellets and a treat of dragonfly nymph once in a while.
