Stager
Noticed yesterday that my Gold Piranha had developed some sort of "ulcer" or abrasion on his side. The tank is sparse with nothing rough or sharp that he may have injured himself on. The only thing I can think of is he nesstled up to the heater and somehoe burned himself??? Any suggestions would be appretiated and any help on how to medicate if even possible. Heres a (not so great) pic of the "ulcer" for lack of knowing what it truly is. The fish is the lone inhabitant in its tank so a bite is out of the question. Edited March 2, 2012 by Stager

The_Little_One
Could that be ick?
Quetzalcoatl
It looks like an injure or maybe flesh eating bacteria, and you will need to use some form of antibiotic so it doesn't develop an infection. You should go to your nearest fish store and look for some medication, you will need to add aquarium salts, do regular water changes, and also be aware that the medication can unbalance the biological filter in your tank. Quetzalcoatl
Could that be ick? No, ick is just little white spots on the body. This is a big ulcer.
