  1. I called them and they said they were only stocking lobsters... Do you know if there's actually CPO there?
  2. Yeppers. Back from tour and looking to find some CPO for one of my tanks. Ideas on best places to ship from? Cheers.
  3. Just noticed that Big Al's in Calgary has a tank full of these little guys. Very hard to come by. Might wanna check them out.
  4. There's been some pretty rad newts on Kijiji from time to time. Even free at times. I think it sounds like you're going for a riparium/vivarium - and that's a brilliant plan. There's some Red Claw crabs always at PetSmart that would LOVE for you to save them. White clouds, endlers, and least killifish would be awesome additions IMO.
  5. If one or two Dwarf Puffers can evade the Piranhas... presto. You could always sink some lettuce overnight and pick it out in the morning (it'll be COVERED in snails).
  6. Humane method - quick and fast. Don't prolong the suffering.
  7. Your RCS should be fine IMO. Either way, with your water params and the desire for an engaging fish, Dwarf Puffers are the way to go. You could easily house some cheap Ghost Shrimp in the tank for a fraction of the cost, and they'd be able to handle themselves against the puffers. Ramshorn snails can keep the tank clean and provide a food source for the puffers - and every now and then you can toss in some bloodworms for a nice treat.
  8. I would highly recommend a Dwarf Puffer/Pea Puffer. They are one of the most interactive, curious, and all around enjoyable fish I can think of.
  9. Wow. Those are gorgeous! What is that beautiful plant growing in the foreground of your CRS tank? You run dual sponge filters in each tank?
  10. Schweet! I'd greatly appreciate that. I love seeing how other people have their tanks setup and how well they appear to function. Mucho gracias!
  11. What brand is it? Do you have any photos of your setup?
  12. Very interesting! That's super helpful.
  13. What are these stackable sponge filters of which ye speaketh!? I must know. Please.
  14. Totally! Now it's off to research what combos might be cool for these tanks. Love the look of them.
  15. Whoa! I had two of these from Big Al's a while back. They were fascinating - and totally appeared to be some type of macro shrimp with their longer fuzzy looking yellow arms. Any developments since then?
  16. Just got home with my $56 purchase (including an $8 piece of driftwood). Epic deal. Thanks for the heads up!
  17. Solution: Get one small Dwarf 'Pea' Puffer. If there's pond snails around he'll leave your shrimp alone while keeping your tank pest-free.
  18. A very VERY little amount of bleach will kill off anything harmful. It will also destroy your livestock, so just use a little and make sure you rinse a LOT.
  19. Where did you order your shrimp from? I'm curious what your setup is - I think I see a Fluval Ebi? What else are you running?
  20. Good morning fellows. I just picked up a 20 gallon long and I'm trying to figure out what substrate would be the best for a planted tank that I hope to leave alone for a while... I've been running my current Fluval Ebi with the stock stratum, but I'm wondering about the benefits of utilizing Flourite for long-term sustainability. Also, does anyone know if Flourite Dark, Black, etc have different properties or are those merely their brands? I ask because they seem to market them differently. Thanks!
  21. Hey folks. Long time no posting. I'm curious about the various types of shrimp we have around Calgary. I've been in search of macros but I can't seem to track them down often, and I always seem to miss when Big Al's brings in other unique types; i.e. skunk shrimp, etc. Please post the shrimp varieties you have and if you are open to FS or FT. Thanks!
