creekbottom
Hi, I'm creekbottom, and I have ich... I've been reading through the posts but a question still remains. If I'm adding salt at 1tbsp/10g, do I do that once and then leave it or is that a daily thing... or add it again after a water change? I've got the temperature up and added salt today, just wondering if I keep adding? thanks
Sprucegruve
only add as much salt as you siphon out on your weekly water change,i have seen it done too many times where some one does a 20 gallon water change on their 55 gallon aquarium then add 5 scoops of salt after their water change........they should only be adding 1.5-2 scoops at that point. also you only need salt in your aquarium when a fish is sick or hurt.. hope i helped
Quetzalcoatl
they say the best cure for ick is to increase your water temperature as much as your fish can handle. What kind of fish do you have?
creekbottom
Neon black tetras, blood fin tetras, the cardinals have all disappeared. Thanks Sprucegruve, very helpful.
nanmer
I have had problems with ich. Salt and temp cured it. You have to slowly raise the temp to 82 - 86 degrees, until the life cycle is complete, which is 12 to 16 days. I had an unexpected outcome, all my fish started to spawn after the higher temps! This treatment only works for fish. If you, personally have ich, see a doctor lol.
