Most of the common silicons sold say the same thing. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the water line on submersible heaters - manufacturers just covering their butts.

liabilities over everything now a days with all the frivolous lawsuits that are filed daily. surprised that this does not also say 'not for human consumption' !

Check the net yourself if you'd like...use uncle google with ge silicone 1 aquarium.

I have personally used GE I and didn't have a problem. The stuff I usually get now is the WeatherSheild (2nd) on that same list bc you can get 3 tubes for $10 at Home Hardware.

At least 24hrs. Parts of my sump just gave out, tho and I only left it 24hrs. Many people want to wait a week. Somewhere in between should be good.
