SuperGuppyGirl
Just purchased one of these, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these guys? Cutest lil guy/girl though haven't seen him swim yet but looking adorable as he "hopped" around the bottom of the tank.

SuperGuppyGirl
I think it is the whiptail twig catfish (farlowella acus) as there are ribbons extending out a good 3" from the ends of his lyretail, not entirely sure though as I bought him at Petsmart and he was overcrowded in the tank with around 10 more twigs about 1/2 his size and at least 20 guppies -05- so got a little impulsive and brought him home, he is around 6-8 inches long not including his ribbons, brown stripes down his sides and the rest is a matte gold color
Wingin' It
I didn't have luck with those guys unfortunately...they just up and died one day, not at the same time...though several weeks apart. They were also with guppies...nothting to bother them. I just wrote them off and never got them again...lol
SuperGuppyGirl
Found out these guys won't actively compete for food allowing themselves to die of starvation (holy suicide Fishman) so moved him from my highly competitive 75Gtank with the 30+ corys to a 30G with only 3 corys and an albino BN pleco and he is starting to get fat/round (YAY), but quite a character can catch by hand easily and seems to enjoy being petted (in the tank) will swim/hop a lil bit at first but then just lays on the sand and lets me lightly run my finger down his body, wish my plecos would let me do this lol
Quetzalcoatl
I cannot understand fish suicide. Why evolution allows suicidal tendencies to prevail on their little brains? Suicide on humans makes more sense, humans have more issues to deal with, but what issues can a fish have?
smellyfish
sounds like a whip tail, i have 2 in a well populated raindow tank, don^t feed them anything special, just what the little piggy rainbow fish don^t eat on the way down, have had them for about 4 years now, they compete with clown loaches, kahliu? loaches, & a goldy pleco, so i think these 2 have missed that suicidal gene, mine r doing great,
