i know i^m not in the same league as u or the same time zone but i had a major wipe out a couple months ago, similair to u, i have a 75 fresh in my bedroom, getting ready to set up a 29g. shrimp, still in my bedroom, i used glass cleaner to clean down the rest of the dresser drawers, & the huge mirror, my tank was about 5 feet from the mirror but some of the fumes from the cleaner must of drifted over the the tank, & like u everything was alive & swimming right side up when i went to bed & when i woke up i l;ost over 7 different pairs of rainbows, it wasn^t a happy day at my house.really peed off,

theres a guy on kijiji, in the n.w. i think thats selling a fx5 with media for $150, the post doesn^ say that much, but with a price like that, cann^t gowrong, i would myself, but have picked up 2 brand new ones for $330,for both,

stay away from from petland, unless u like paying thru the nose they will bleed u dry, riverfront still has there 50% off sale every 2nd saturday of each month, don^t buy fish at big als, unless u like treating for numerous deseases, golds fish r always good, francos r good too, but over priced, pieces aren^t too bad, this is just my 2 cents worth, take it what u may. from my own personal experiences

i had a out brake of that stuff, used E.M. Erythromycin, its an API line of products, followed the instructions, cleared it right up haven^t had a problem since, didn^t harm the plants or fish, worked great,

dang, i^ve had my 2 in a 70 gallon for the last year & have never doner anything special for them, haven^t fed them anything different except what my other fish get, now that u^ve said that i^ll most likely loose them now, ignorance is bliss, most of the time, the only thing i^ve noticed is they don^t take any poop from the other fish, saw him once chase the crap out the my big iranian red rainbow, that was fun to see, there either on the glass or the plants, & they have never hurt the plants just clean them,

hi, don^t know if this is the right catagory or not, but i snorkel & dive in carburn park in river bend, in calgary, a lot, & theres an incredible amount of plants growing in the ponds, swords, vales, cobomba plants, both green & red, & some kind of tall sea kelp looking plant, some as hi as 10-15 feet hi, anyway, i was wondering if anyone wanted to get some, they all seem healthy, took some samples to wayne at riverfront, got his advice, but the only catch is u have to come & pick me up, i live just off mcleod tr. & 38 ave. s.w. but i will grab all & any plants u want, talked to the parks people they said it was no problem, especially the non-native north american plants, either write me back here or email me at rklee2020@yahoo.ca, so we can set up a time, i^m heading down there shortly,

i recently added 4 kuhli loaches to my community rainbow tank & my wood & flower shrimp have dissapeared, i^ve missed them before but always showed up, but now they^ve gone m.i.a. for about a month & 4 water changes, not a sign not even a exoskelton laying around, so asking if the little kuhli loaches devour the large wood shrimp, i^ve had the shrimp for quite a while now, no problems till now, haven^t changed anything, same routine, the shrimp where all healthy, eating, wandering around lots, thanks for answering & helping,

jason, yes those little spoons r very intimadating, they confuse me immensly, thats sarcasm, u gave me the fertilizers & proportions to use, very easy, to follow & understand,if i can read & understand what & how much to fertilize, then anyone can, & the plants love it,

sounds like a whip tail, i have 2 in a well populated raindow tank, don^t feed them anything special, just what the little piggy rainbow fish don^t eat on the way down, have had them for about 4 years now,they compete with clown loaches, kahliu? loaches, & a goldy pleco, so i think these 2 have missed that suicidal gene,mine r doing great,

to bad ur not in cowtown, river front has a tank full of them, maybe 6 i think, about 6-8 inches long, says there florida gars,

calgary also uses chloramine

i got my dry kno3 from plant grow place on edmonton trail, they had no problem selling dry fertilizer to me, i just picked some more up last weekend,

just got hosed from big als so called boxing day sale, picked up some food & a couple pleco^s, golden nugget for 32.00 & a royale for 42.00 that was there so called sale prices & went to golds & the exact same food was 3 dollars cheaper & there prices for the plecos was 25.00 & 30.oo & then i read harolds fairdeal prices & i had to shoot myself for getting really hosed. the food i picked up was the omega one super colour pellets, & some frozen bloodworms & frozen shrimp.

don^t know if u want to go but dennis at golds is a lot cheaper this week than big als & pisces, picked up some food & conditioner & it was at least 2-3 dollars cheaper & he also said that he had a couple of tanks that he wanted to get rid of cheap, also all the livestock is really cheap right now, but i^m fished up as full as possible.

hi everyone, a very large favor to ask, just got back from "plant grow" on edmonton trail with some dry fertilizer, KNO3, solupotasse, & a small bag of micro nutrient mix, now the hard part i^ve looked up several different sites but cann^t get the same answer, i want to know a good recipe for the fertilizer, & how much water do i use at a time & how much fertilizer do i use & how long will it last mixed, before it looses its usefullness, have a 55 gallon thick planted, 125 watts of lights, 15-20 small to medium sized fish as well. water change weekly, also using the flourish system, iron, comprehensive & trace, but its getting pretty expensive, also how often should i fertilize with the dry stuff & should i add it right after a water change or wait a couple of days. any way thanks for reading & replying to my post kirk

hi everyone, a quick question about wood shrimp, does co2 affect wood shrimp? cause i added another homemade co2 hose in my tank & my wood shrimp was dead this moring, & i^m also wondering if u have to feed those kind of filtration shrimp anything in perticular? because i wasn^t. my tank is really clean & clear, so don^t know if i starved the poor guy to death or if the co2 did him in. he was perched on my marble thing & thats where i started my other co2 injection, so he bee-lined it off the marble, & ended up feet up in the opposite corner of the tank. unless he^s been napping for a very long time in my tupper ware container? thanks again in advance, for reading & replying & maybe someday i just might get this right.
