Ron
Hello, My set ups are very simple compared to jumpsmasher's. Most with a Pyrex 11 cup container with "inert" gravel, breeding tubes, some moss and some dishes. I keep my Neos and Tigers at 7.0 - 7.2 pH and 200 - 450 ppm TDS. Most just filtered with an Aquaclear HOB. On the main rack from left to right and top to bottom 10 gallon, betta albimarginata 10 gallon, Super Tiger shrimp 10 gallon, OEBTs 10 gallon, Pumpkin shrimp 10 gallon, Carbon Rili shrimp 10 gallon, PFRs 40 gallon, Marbled crayfish, RCS and a Tiger crayfish 30 gallon, Tiger eels 15 gallon, just setting up for CRS 15 gallon, CPO and Blue Rili shrimp Fluval Ebi, Chocolate shrimp Fluval Ebi, Celestial Pearl Danios and RCS On the bottom of my stand to the right 40 gallon, Sterlets 15 gallon, Blue Bolt and BKK Panda shrimp The cage on top house my pair of Kimberley Rock Monitors Thanks for looking. jumpsmasher
Very nice rack Ron! looks a lot more studier than mine - where did you pick it up and what are the dimensions?
Ron
Thanks. They are similar racks available at Lowes and Home Depot, I prefer the one at Lowes. Each shelf is 72" x 24" and is rated for 2000 lbs. I put sheets of plywood on top and if the tanks don't span the 24", I make it fairly thick. The middle shelf had a sheet of 1/2" and a sheet of 3/4" plywood.

jumpsmasher
Nice clean tanks. Looks like someone stocked up on breeding tubes the last order :P Those 24" deep racks are perfect for 15/20 gallon tanks arranged with their long end front to back. Maybe even some custom 36" x 24" tanks with built-in partitions. Will have to look at something like that once I clear some space in my den : ) Be careful with those moss tiles - I used the same ones a while back, the metal pegs on the corners tend to rust after a while as they are not made of stainless steel (like the mesh). Imke did an interview with SummitMicroFarm recently where she mention that he uses AquaClear filters for all his tanks - might be a good read if you haven't already read it. http://shrimpsider.wordpress.com/2012/10/28/summitmicrofarm-shrimp-breeder-from-oregon-usa/

I love the 24" deep rack I was thinking of getting 3 - 24" x 24" per level or like you said a couple 36" x 24" but I'm not keen on dividing. How were you thinking of dividing without overly restricting flow? I wonder if you can find SS mesh in 24" sheets. Hmmmm, thanks for the heads up on the tiles, maybe once the moss is established I'll lose the bases. Thanks for the link. Sweet! Very clean tanks. hb Thanks

How were you thinking of dividing without overly restricting flow? I wonder if you can find SS mesh in 24" sheets. For my new PRL tanks I been using Plexi glass dividers with around a 1" gap on the bottom and a series 2" holes drilled around the middle of the tank. Once filled you can cover the holes with sponges, cutte to size . I am actually using 1 7/8 holes as that is the exact diameter of my smaller section of my sponge filter refills - every sponge filter comes with 4 refills so I have tons of extras. I don't have any pictures of mine yet but it is based on what Stephan did for his divided tanks. http://www.shrimpnow.com/forums/showthread.php/8158-Some-of-my-humble-shrimps?p=83410&viewfull=1#post83410 CrystalMethShrimp also had a beautiful custom acrylic tank done based on Stephan's tanks http://www.gtaaquaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38983 Both of them have the intake on one end, covered with a sponge filter with the output with the other end and sponge filters in each one as well. Of course you can also just use a power filter in each section alternatively as well, For my top level tank I make going to try a hob canister filter with a couple of prefilter extensions if I can get my hands on them http://www.up-aqua.com/00-dm-page/00dm_ex-filter-big.jpg http://www.up-aqua.com/00-dm-page/EX-PF-AD.jpg or the Totto Perfectfilter MiniMini http://www.gcshop-sg.com/product_view.php?pid=1620&pg=0&cata=3&cate=2&scate=&lo=&bid=4&cid=-1&stxt=&nipp=100&stm=-1&dsct=0 Will have to bug Frank about those or even build something similar using a series of inline reactors or R/O parts
Ron
I asked about the Up HOB cannisters for you already but he said they are 220V. Might have to look into divided tanks but I already feel that 40 gallon tanks are too big to be moving around and I move things around a lot. jumpsmasher
Thanks Ron, I might need to get my friend in TO to pick them up for me at AI than. : ) Ya, 15/20G tanks might be the way to go if you have different set-ups or tend to move things around. The partitioned tanks are mainly for breeding - selective breeding to be exact. I found it was a hassle to acclimatize everything time I was culling my shrimps as they were being moved to a separate tank. Swiss Tropical (the NA distributor of Poret foam) has a nice fishroom setup using 15 Gal tanks and their HMF filters http://www.swisstropicals.com/Swisstropicals%20Fishroom.html if only i had a basement... If AI is getting them I'll bet that Patrick is bringing them in and they should be 120V, let me check with Frank again. That fishroom is awesome......why did I put so many darn bedrooms in my basement......now will the wife let me tear down a wall, after all the house is a year old now, LOL. Thanks Ron, Don't think i have room for a rack that size just yet.. will need to clear out some stuff first but thanks for the heads up. btw, my "smallish" PRL rack is well on its way.. the first two tanks have been partitioned and should have the substrate in and water filled within the next few days
