Kreature
I just found out that I'm traveling to Singapore in August, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what "fishy" stuff I should look for and bring back. I don't think anything live would survive the 28 hrs of travel, but equipment, etc? Thanks!
Znaika
Actually, if you do not feed bought fish for a couple of days (so that they do not spoil the water during travel), they will probably survive in a fish bag put in a styrofoam box with one or two heat packs. Znaika
As long as your luggage does not get lost, that is
Kreature
Thanks! Is there any issue with importing fish like that? Would I need a permit?
Znaika
Each country has its own regulations, I never brought fish into Canada, so I do not have any practical experience. I know, however, that Air Canada offers shipment of aquarium fishes as a service: https://www.aircanad...ions/index.html Edited January 11, 2013 by Znaika
Znaika
Here is what I found on the matter: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/science/enviro/aah-saa/ornamental-aquarium-eng.htm
Wingin' It
Fish will survive a 28 hr trip. Of course if baggage people treat the luggage poorly...there may be issues. You might luck out though. As for allowable fish and permits...that's another story. Have fun!
rayfong
I had a cook come back from Thailand in November. He had a few pairs of guppies in his luggage. He had them in a small styro box in plastic water bottles and they survived.
Fisher
Thanks! Is there any issue with importing fish like that? Would I need a permit? In the spirit of keeping your next cavity check in a dentist chair, this "Bathroom Reader" might be of passing interest. I imagine fairdeal knows plenty about import laws and exemptions to Canada. edit: if you never tried Pho here, try it there. It's to thai pho. ckmullin
Agree'd, unless you like the big white glove suggest you dot your i's. Big bro won't take that kindly if caught. The great ol' US of A impounds/fines and threatens people bringing in those Kinder surprise eggs if you travel south...Canada isn't far behind with their own quirks especially with living creatures.
